What does 19 years, 3 months, and 15 days look like at a single company? -It's a closet full of branded polos, pullovers, and jackets -A corporate ID with a 15-year-old photo. (I wasn't even 30 yet) -3 different states, 8 different bosses, 5 different roles, and countless teammates -Friends who have become coworkers and coworkers who have become friends -Those same friends taking care of one of my kids because the other was born 5 weeks early -Showing up to stand in torrential rain and heavy winds to watch Taylor and I get married -People that have held space for me during my hardest years, and celebrated during my best -Multiple leaders investing and believing in me, trusting me with roles I've never held before -Commiserating with peers when things didn't go our way and cheering each other on when they did -Witnessing first-hand the transformation of an organization in its size, reach, purpose, and mission -Years and thousands of dollars in professional growth, learning, and development -Mourning layoffs, heartbreaks, losses, and even deaths -Difficult goodbyes after a literal lifetime of memories and accomplishments together -And finally, a heart full of gratitude for the life that I have been able to build in my time here As I wrap my final weeks here at American Family Insurance, what I realize is this: While I am proud of all of the work, projects, and accomplishments I have accumulated with my various teams here, those memories will fade. What will last for the rest of my life is the connection to each incredible human I was so fortunate to know over these nearly 2 decades. I am forever grateful and in debt to every one of you.
Michael, I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such an exceptional human being whom I can call, friend. Your brilliant ideas, balanced approach, and unwavering understanding have profoundly impacted me, and meeting you in person this year, only solidified my admiration. As you move into the next chapter, know that you’ll be dearly missed. Your presence has been invaluable, and your influence will be lasting. I am fortunate to have crossed paths with you, and I look forward to seeing the incredible things you will accomplish next. Thank you for everything!! No goodbyes, we will be in touch!!
I’m not crying YOU’RE crying! But for real well said Michael.
Wow! I’m so excited to see what you have coming up next!
Wishing you the best on your next endeavors! This post hit home in many ways, after 13+ years with the company, it’s definitely a weird feeling not being an Amfam employee anymore, but it is an exciting and rewarding adventure for sure. Maybe we’ll cross paths again in your future role! Cheers to next steps being the best ones!
MIchael I remember when you first came onto the Amfam scene. Hard to believe that was 19 years ago. It was a pleasure to work with you over the years and I have greatly appreciated all of your insights in the years since I have left Amfam. I wish you nothing but the best in your next adventure. I will be eagerly waiting for that post!
Michael, all the positive comments are a testament to you and the positive impact you have made on all of us. Congratulations and know you will be missed.
