Every journey into the pursuit of excellence is paved with moments of great euphoria & despair.. great losses & gains.. sacrifices, ostracizations, doubts from your closest friends and family... and the eventual self doubts. The confidence and clarity in your vision must be unwavered. You must be willing to give up what you want most right now, for what your want most in your future. This sacrifice very few are able to make. The most common excuse I hear is "I don't have the time .. I don't have the resources". Excuses and rationalizations to cope... Yet they make time to watch the playoffs, go to brunch & dinner on the weekends, scroll on IG, play games... Many of those same people often are either driving expensive cars .. living in nice apartments.. spending money on things they don't need. Consistently making poor decisions. A victim to their own temptations. You see where I'm heading? Either you make the sacrifices or someone else will fill the space and occupy YOUR DREAMS. I was always driven to do whatever it took. Started my first business at 7, and a second at 12. Started working full time at 14 years old. Two/three jobs. Lifeguarding 40 hours.. restaurants on the weekends. Side hustles too. Selling sneakers, shoveling driveways in the winter... every dollar went towards trading eventually Everyone sees the finished products ... nobody sees the forging of the iron. From 20-24, when I began trading... I was shot, stabbed and killed emotionally & financially every day. I made zero dollars in my first 3.5 years. In fact I lost $100,000 of my money. At times I wavered but ultimately I never gave up. I always saw the vision of where I was heading. I made mistakes surely, but each loss is accompanied by a lesson. It's on you to learn humility and accountability. I changed things about myself, my habits, my friends, my beliefs. I changed my life .. and my life changed... Funny how that works.

HAVE FAITH IN YOUR JOURNEY. EVERYTHING HAD TO HAPPEN EXACTLY AS IT DID TO GET YOU WHERE YOU'RE GOING NEXT! I once heard a story about a man named Ravi. Ravi was an ordinary person with extraordinary dreams. He started his career in a small town, working a modest job that barely paid the bills. Despite the challenges, Ravi had a vision for his future and an unwavering faith in his journey. Every setback he faced, every roadblock, seemed like a mountain. His friends often told him to take an easier path, to settle for less. But Ravi believed that every twist and turn was shaping him for something greater. One day, his company went through massive layoffs. Ravi was one of the many who lost their jobs. It felt like the end of the road. With a heavy heart but a resilient spirit, he decided to move to a bigger city, chasing opportunities that aligned with his dreams. Ravi faced numerous rejections and failures in the new city, but each experience taught him invaluable lessons. He learned new skills, met people who would become lifelong mentors, and discovered a resilience within himself that he never knew existed. Years later, Ravi started his own business, built on the foundation of all the knowledge and experience he had gained through his journey. Today, he's not just successful; he's fulfilled, living a life that aligns perfectly with his dreams. Ravi's story is a testament to the belief that every experience, no matter how challenging, is a crucial part of our journey. So, if you ever find yourself questioning your path, remember Ravi. Have faith in your journey. Everything had to happen exactly as it did to get you where you're going next. Your current struggles are paving the way for a brighter, more fulfilling future. Keep going, keep believing, and embrace every moment of your journey. The best is yet to come! #Inspiration #Journey #KeepGoing #FaithInYourself #SuccessStory #GrowthMindset #NeverGiveUp #PositiveThinking #BelieveInYourself #Resilience #MondayMotivation #Transformation

Here's what I didn't understand BEFORE building my businesses 👇🏻 Let me take you back to before I built Sprinkles Cupcakes, Pizzana wrote my bestselling book, or appeared on Cupcake Wars, Sugar Rush, and Shark Tank ABC. Back when I was desperate to climb the corporate ladder... At that time, my goals weren't *really* mine. 😳 They were shaped by the opinions of others, society's standards, and the heavy weight of expectations I thought I had to meet. Instead of pursuing my passions and chasing my dreams, I secured a prestigious job at a top investment bank. 💼 Now, don't get me wrong—I could have stayed in that position and been very comfortable. But when layoffs hit and I was forced out of that life, I realized something: I wanted to start living for ME, not for others. 💫 When I pivoted from banking to baking, I let go of chasing a life that looked good on the outside and started creating one that felt right to ME. To find true fulfillment, I had to redefine success on MY terms. So, if you’re at a crossroads, wondering why you’re not fulfilled even though you’re checking all the boxes you thought you wanted... ...Remember, fulfillment comes from building a life that's true to YOU. 🩵 #Entrepreneur #Mindset #ChaseYourDreams #Passionpreneur

Ever feel like you’re starting from scratch at the worst possible time? {Read on, I can relate.} In 2009, right during the recession, I joined a staffing company as a salesperson. And guess what? I had zero experience in sales - Nada. Zip. Zero. They told me they believed in me, and I jumped in headfirst. I asked the founder why they started the company during a recession. His answer? “We didn’t know what we didn’t know. We had nowhere to go but up while everyone else was going down.” There was no backup plan—just grit and determination. Fast forward a few years, and the founders successfully exited the company. I rode with them, earning some of the best income of my career, and 10xed my knowledge about building a successful company. So, if you’ve lost your job or think it’s too late to start over, remember this: you have nowhere to go but up. Don’t let doubt hold you back. Every setback is an opportunity for a comeback. What’s stopping you from taking your leap of faith today? Ever made a crazy decision that turned out for the best? Share below.

I QUIT!!! No, I didn’t :) But I've definitely thought about it. In 2016, I started a small side hustle from my apartment, and by 2019, it had grown into a full-fledged business. The Monkeys and the Rainstorm: 3 Strategies for Riding Out the Storm - This is a reprint of my article from May 2022. Once upon a time, there was a group of monkeys that loved to romp and play in the sunshine. Whenever it rained they exclaimed, “When it stops raining, we must build a roof to stay dry during these rainstorms!” But when the sun came back out, the monkeys always went back to playing and having fun. People are the same way. When times are good and everyone is gainfully employed, little thought is given to the future. Executive don’t keep in touch or return phone calls. Many don’t put together a rainy day fund (six to twelve months of salary). They value transactions over relationships, and don't worry about burning bridges or the long-term consequences of their actions. That works fine when the sun is shining, the government gives away $7T in free money and jobs are handed out like candy. Post Pandemic was a hiring free for all with an unemployment rate of 3%. Candidates were taking counter-offers, competitive offers (more than one job offer), asking for 40% salary increases and to work from home. Those were the days! But what happens when the storm comes? When layoffs replace the hiring. Remember August 2008 (Depression 2.0) and March 2020 (Pandemic)? That’s when you need those relationships and a safety net. Well, my friends, it has started raining. Inflation and rising interest rates have rattled the hiring market. Government and consumer debt are at historic all-time highs. This month I started getting resumes from executives that took counter-offers last year. Why? Because they were kept around by their employers just long enough to find a replacement. And when layoffs hit, who do you think is the first to get clipped? Three lessons. First, without integrity, nothing else matters. Counter-offers and ghosting on start date go to character. Second, relationships trump talent. Stay in touch with your peers. They are your lifeline during a Recession. Third, always have a cash safety net. As my Dad always said, "If you can't pay cash...you can't have one."

Therefore, do not be anxious about tomorrow. (v. 34) Once a storm is named, models are made predicting the storm’s path, timing, and wind speed. These are called spaghetti models, because they look like several strands of colored spaghetti. The storm is too far away to know the exact path, so the models can concurrently show different possible outcomes; We also have something like spaghetti models in our minds, creating anxiety as we worry about the future. Rumors of layoffs, a new physical symptom, or your daughter announcing she thinks she’s found her soulmate—there is no way to foresee the exact path these events will take as they develop; and sometimes, we add to the anxiety by fearing the worst. Jesus is telling us to not be anxious about the future because our heavenly Father knows exactly what we need. Jesus says to “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” (v. 33). Getting to know Jesus and learning from him must be our first priority. When we fill ourselves up with what Jesus teaches, he helps us untangle the spaghetti to identify the strands we can toss away, those to set aside until more is known, and those requiring attention now. As you pray, get to know Jesus better and ask him to help you untangle the “spaghetti models” in your life.

I have always loved a comeback story. There is just something so inspiring about people who bounce back with resilience and fortitude. Like Michael Milken, the former financier who went to prison for racketeering and securities fraud, was then released after two years for good behavior and has spent the past 30-plus years on philanthropic ventures that transformed medical research, public health, and education. I also think of movie star Robert Downey Jr., who garnered an Oscar nomination in 1993 but then spent many of the next few years either in jail or in rehab. He eventually got sober in the early 2000s, focused on his career, and was cast as Ironman, star of the iconic Marvel superhero franchise. However, a comeback doesn’t have to involve rebounding from dramatic events, as these two individuals did. You might be planning how to rise above career disappointments, such as being laid off or not getting your dream job. Perhaps you have felt stuck in your job or industry for years and are now ready to shake things up by exploring a new path that brings you greater fulfillment. In any case, you can make your comeback greater than your setback by pivoting with purpose. Read on to learn 3 simple ways that you can pivot with purpose, so that your glorious comeback is even better than the first time around! https://lnkd.in/eE92wh-7 #comeback #resilience #humanspirit #inspiring #turnyourlifearound

May of 2018 changed everything for me as a businessman... I had just helped a larger company secure its first major contract. It felt like a win—a step forward in my journey. But then came the reality check: I learned the hard way: "If it’s not in writing, it didn’t happen." I’d negotiated a 20% share verbally. But when the deal closed, I was told, “It’s not going to be 20%… it was never going to be 20%.” That was a gut punch. Before I could even process the frustration, the world flipped upside down. The pandemic hit. I had to pull the plug on our subcontract, and just like that, everything I had worked for was gone. But this wasn’t just about losing a contract or my family being impacted, it was about the people who put it on the line for GXC everyday — my team. That was the real weight on my shoulders. I had a choice: I could have walked away. Let it all collapse. But deep down, I knew I wasn’t built for quitting now; never have been. So, I got to work. I negotiated a buyout—something to keep us afloat. It wasn’t perfect, but it was enough to keep the dream alive. Starting from scratch nearly three years into our growth wasn’t what I had planned, but it was where I found myself. And through all of this, I learned some things that stuck with me: 👉 Setbacks don’t define you. 👉 Resilience means finding new ways. 👉 Challenges sharpen your strength and focus. Looking back, those tough moments were more than just obstacles—they were the catalysts that pushed me to grow. That’s what having a “drive to thrive” means. It’s about pushing through when things don’t go as planned and finding a way forward, no matter how often you must start over. At the end of the day, success isn’t just about reaching the destination. It’s about the strength you build along the way.

I was laid off from my job at an ad agency during the 2008 recession with less than $2,000 in my bank account. Here’s why it was the best thing that could have happened to me. 👇 The night I lost my job, I went out with my co-workers (who also got the axe). We wallowed in it, mourning the loss of our financial stability and our collective purpose. But — that didn’t last long. The very next day, a bit tired and a bit hungover, I decided to… - Grab coffee with the co-founders from that same agency that laid me off the day prior - Tell them about an idea that I had been marinating on for a medical referral business - Ask them to help me with the funding I needed to get the business off the ground Crazy? Yes. The right decision? Absolutely. Shockingly – while still digging out of the rubble from their hurting ad agency in the middle of a recession – my former bosses became my first investors. Then, within three years, we had a successful buy-out. And that was only the beginning of my journey. I took the lessons learned from this first company to ultimately co-found Pyx Health which has become more successful than I could have ever dreamed. What started as one of the darkest days of my life ended up being a major turning point in disguise. So, my words of advice to everyone else out there struggling with today’s difficult job market: - Trust in your vision. - Take bold steps. - And never be afraid to pursue your passion. You may just be one “crazy idea” away from making your dream a reality.
