At CarePortal, we strive to embody a transformative approach to generosity, shifting from traditional methods like mailers and galas to a deeply personal connection. We call it Care Sharing. It's about direct engagement and honest connections, where communities of faith become pillars of support for the vulnerable, businesses invest in their neighborhoods, and kids and families are wrapped around in care by their local community members. Lifting one another up in action, prayer, and love. We see the power of collective action, where every contribution, big or small, directly meets urgent needs in real time. Together, through Care Sharing, we can make a meaningful difference where it counts the most. https://bit.ly/34aon41

When I talk about Ubuntu in business, it is NOT from the place of deep cultural grounding and experience like for Shayla Sima Dube. Ubuntu is the spiritual, ontological, epistemological water in which she swims. As a white woman from the U.S., I point to Ubuntu philosophy as a way to illuminate what is missing from the water in which I grew up. My worldview was shaped by the concepts (dare I say, myths) of individualism, meritocracy, survival of the fittest, and competition. If we want an experience of work and how we lead to be one of unleashing human potential and not extractive dehumanization, we need different lenses, different models, different ways of understanding. Ubuntu makes way for individual contribution that uplifts the whole. Ubuntu is easy to relate to because it taps into what everyone wants: Strong, resilient, caring communities where we all belong and thrive. The hard part is to unlearn the programming of individualism, hierarchy, and control. For Shayla's workshops and services rooted in Ubuntu: https://lnkd.in/ebHkHcQh To learn more about how to transform business culture, build a strong team, and build leadership capabilities for the age of chaos, get in touch with me to learn more about the Ubuntu Generation Process. https://lnkd.in/emkeHg-R
When we prioritize community care, self-care shifts from being a tool for survival to an act grounded in collective well-being. It’s no longer just about individual resilience but about rest as a human right and birthright, supported by the shared strength of the collective. This reimagining of care uplifts both the individual and the community, creating space for all to thrive together. True healing happens within community, not in isolation. From the moment we entered this world, we were nurtured by others; co-regulation within a supportive environment makes self-regulation more accessible. We are interconnected and interdependent—no human thrives in isolation. The terms “me, myself, and I,” “self-made,” and “independent” have always perplexed me because they reflect a culture I don’t identify with. As someone who is creator-made, ancestor-rooted, and nurtured by community, I have no framework for individualism. The self-absorbed culture cultivated by colonial, imperialist, and capitalist ideologies goes beyond language into transactional, extractive, and competitive living. This culture divides our humanity and perpetuates the illusion of meritocracy, keeping us isolated and disconnected. Where I grew up, I had never heard of concepts like self-care, self-made, or self-regulation. Life in my village revolved around collective community, where those with more shared resources to ensure everyone’s needs were met. There were no homeless or begging people, nor an elite wealthy class. When I speak of Ubuntu Collective Care, it’s because I’ve lived it, and I know it works. Invitational call in: 1. How can you make space for Ubuntu in your life today? 2. What small act of collective care or shared responsibility can you take to help dismantle the isolation, competition, and exploitation around us? 3. How do your individual choices benefit the community and people around you? Together, we can nurture a world where our shared humanity becomes the foundation for healing, rest, and collective strength. Thank you for being in community with me, I am because you are and I provide Ubuntu centred workshops and training. Let me know if you would like a consult and please don’t repurpose my words without crediting me for these communal teachings that are a labour of love for me and a gift from my elders and forebears.

One of the reasons why we do what we do at Sirat - The Cleft Warriors Ensemble This indeed made our day! To know more about us, check out the link below: https://lnkd.in/dkejemAh
A simple and beautiful example as to why communities are important 👇🏻 A new parent in our Sirat - The Cleft Warriors Ensemble community recently shared that their unborn baby will have a cleft lip and palate. With support and determination, they’ve chosen to embrace the journey ahead. I was glad to see this message in the morning, it's an affirmation of the message we're trying to convey about Sirat and what people can expect. Sirat exists to ensure that families facing cleft know they're not alone. We connect parents with a supportive network, expert advice, and resources to navigate this path together. Help us reach more families—contribute here or share this post to spread the word. Contribute to the campaign here: https://lnkd.in/gXgWXwB8

"Being Neighborly" In a world that's constantly buzzing with the cacophony of busy schedules and digital distractions, the simple act of being "neighborly" can often feel like a relic of the past. Yet, it's precisely these small, heartfelt gestures that have the power to weave a fabric of kindness, transforming not just our neighborhoods but the entire world. Imagine walking down your street and being greeted with warm smiles, friendly waves, and genuine offers of help—such is the magic of fostering a strong, interconnected community through simple acts of kindness. From lending a helping hand to a neighbor carrying groceries to organizing a community clean-up event, these seemingly small actions ripple outwards, creating waves of positivity and connection. The essence of being neighborly lies in recognizing the shared humanity that binds us all, reminding us that every act of kindness, no matter how minor it may seem, contributes to making the world a better place. So, why not take a step towards building a stronger, more compassionate community today? 😊 #smarteroutofband

Announcing our next healing circle for BIPOC female and femme leaders within the non-profit and education sectors! Description: You + Safety What is your relationship with feeling safe? With feeling safe in your work environment, in the USA and in your relationships? Do you feel safe to speak your truth or to be in your full power? What role might early childhood experiences play in your relationship with feeling safe? What might be possible in your life if you had a profound and real sense of safety? For our last healing circle with Gloetry, we will explore what it means to feel safe. Feeling safe by loved ones and the larger society, affirms our humanity, opens our hearts, and acknowledges the spirit within us. When we feel safe, we are able to breathe, relax and be at ease. We can fully receive the present moment we are in. When we do not feel safe, we are tense, on edge and stressed. Living in the constant state of feeling unsafe causes one to always scan for threat, amplifying anxiety and distrust of others. Being BIPOC folks working and living in the USA, a PWI in and of itself, can be traumatizing in ways we may not even be fully aware of. Through storytelling and conscious listening, we will reflect on our experiences with feeling safe, witness each other, and support each other in our healing journey. We will take into consideration generational trauma, parental aspects, societal messaging and conditioning as well as cultural influences that may have impacted your ability to really feel safe. Read more at https://lnkd.in/gHtxHwaK RSVP Deadline: Wednesday April 10th Date: Wednesday April 17th Time: 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM EST Cost: $125 Registration link: https://lnkd.in/gdSJRCyD
