My favorite takeaways: 1. Last touch attribution is hot garbage. It's incredibly flawed. Marketing thrives on collaboration across teams, long-term investments, and integrated strategies. Simplistic measurement frameworks like last touch undermine this by reducing success to isolated events, which fail to capture the bigger picture. 2. Accept the fact that leadership will ask you what drives revenue, but push back on their reliance on questions that seek simple answers. Combine every available data point, UTMs, SRA, and MTA, to create a comprehensive picture. But don’t waste time assigning credit to one channel or tactic, it's about understanding the collective influence of all touchpoints. 3. Vet potential leadership during interviews to identify if they trust marketing as a strategic function or view it with skepticism. Avoid roles where proving marketing’s value is a constant battle. 4. Hire for curiosity, self-awareness, and a drive to solve problems. Don’t worry about big logos and time spent at companies.
