Introducing SERRP VIII: Shaping Europe’s Future Transport Infrastructure! 🌍 We're thrilled to unveil FEHRL’s 8th Strategic European Road and cross-modal Research and Implementation Plan (SERRP VIII). Covering 2025-2027, SERRP VIII sets a transformative agenda to create sustainable, resilient, and equitable transport infrastructure across Europe. Here’s a quick look at the three core priorities: 🏗 Built Environment: Advancing the integration of digital twins, sensors, and data to improve infrastructure resilience, reduce costs, and enhance resource efficiency. 🌿 Natural Environment: Promoting green infrastructure and biodiversity initiatives that reduce carbon emissions, minimize environmental impact, and adapt to climate change. 👥 Social Environment: Ensuring safe, accessible, and equitable mobility for all by improving road safety, promoting health, and addressing transport equity. 💼 Why it Matters: SERRP VIII is more than just a research agenda; it’s a blueprint for a future where transport infrastructure supports sustainable growth, protects our planet, and improves the quality of life for all citizens. 🔗 Collaborate with Us: FEHRL invites researchers, policymakers, and industry partners to join us in turning these priorities into actionable projects. Together, let’s build a transport network that works for everyone, everywhere. #SERRPVIII #SustainableTransport #Infrastructure #FEHRL #BuiltEnvironment #NaturalEnvironment #SocialEnvironment #Innovation #Mobility #ClimateAction

#ICYMI: ApoSys Technologies Inc. was at Innovation Factory Hamilton! 👉We had the opportunity to learn about the innovation and why it's important for our infrastructure, and how the ecosystem collaborated to support the team throughout their journey. 🙌The remarks from Mona Eghanian and Dan Ruby from Ontario Centre of Innovation , James Berube from Tshiuetin Rail Transportation Inc. , and Brett Young from Hudson Bay Railway followed with a great demo of how the technology works! ⚡Apollo monitors the rail surface, subsurface and surrounding environmental data to capture infrastructural deformities. This solution uses the Canadian climate model and satellite imagery to monitor infrastructure and track conditions, helping railway stakeholders efficiently protect against climate change. 👏Congratulations to the entire team on a successful demo event! Here are some snippets from the ApoSys Demo on Tuesday👇 💡To learn more about CITM and how we can help you, visit: https://loom.ly/8EHnqpo #Innovation #Technology #Transportation #RailTech #Ontario

Exciting conference of how to scale up electrification on road transportation coming up the 19-20th of March in Lund, Sweden. Will it be fast enough? Content? "The need to address climate change and reach the emission targets in transportation has become more pressing than ever before. But the transition to fossil-free transportation is just not happening fast enough. To succeed, electrification is an important solution. Innovation is another: groundbreaking advances in Electric Road Systems can be a part of the solution – and an opportunity to speed up the transition. At the conference, we examine pathways and solutions to smart and sustainable electric transportation infrastructure. We do so with a shared purpose: to explore, discuss, and advance the shaping of sustainable and fossil-free road transportation, powering the future." Introducing this year's Future Transport Visions Group research themes: 🌱 Decarbonisation and Sustainable Transport 🤝 Engagement and Behaviour Change 💻 Modelling and Appraisal Processes 💡 Future Transport Modes and Technologies 🚦 Intelligent Transport Systems ❓ Emerging Trends (Other) We wanted to give this year's initiative some more structure and provide people with some broad themes to pitch ideas for. The themes are linked to expertise within our committee and broad transport topics affecting the industry; but also include a "wildcard" category for those that don't quite fit any theme. We will group all entries into these themes as part of organising our collaboration workshops which will be the forum for turning individual ideas into group projects. Are these jolting any ideas? Easy peasy 🍋 squeaky. My network may be woefully light on #youngprofessionals but 🤞 you can help spread the word about this outstanding career development opportunity I keep highlighting. How easy? 100 word proposal. That easy! PLUS Two interesting options to get involved. Joint projects and 'go solo' > if you don’t have a proposal but would be interested in taking part in a group activity aligned to your sector. #cpd #justdoit

How can Smart Ports lead the way in digital and sustainable innovation? 🌊 On May 31st, our Nordics lead, Henrik Morgen had the opportunity to attend the European Maritime Days 2024 conference, hosted by the City of Svendborg (Denmark) and the EU Commission (DG Mare). Smart Ports are like Smart Cities - only less complicated and more safe to trial new technologies. Together with our partner Geospatial Insight Limited, we showcased our exciting CACHE Net Zero Smart and Sustainable Ports project, sponsored by the European Space Agency - ESA. With 1250 delegates representing the “Blue Economy” business stakeholder landscape, key discussions focused on general digitisation of operations, geo-mapping renewable energy, integrated transport/logistics, energy management systems, smart and sustainable tourism, smart specialisation, and innovation ecosystem management. 🚢 Mayors and city representatives from Brest (France), Cork (Ireland), Den Helder (Netherlands), Ravenna (Italy), and Svendborg (Denmark) highlighted their main development challenges. Common themes included the green transition, GHG emissions reductions, and the uptake of digital and smart logistics solutions. BABLE Smart Cities is uniquely positioned to transfer proven urban solutions to port settings, accelerating the green transition and smart innovation. New Event! Transport in Intelligent Environments – The end of the tram as we know it? 25th April, 14.00-15.00 GMT Session description: In this webinar we will discuss how transport is being reconfigured by emerging technologies and intelligent environments. Bus Rapid Transit and Trackless Trams are interrogated in the context of transitions to Net Zero, attending to the technical and institutional challenges associated with their introduction. The webinar is part of a series exploring different facets of intelligent environments through the lens of “Intelligent Environments – Advanced Systems for a Healthy Planet” (Droege, 2023) and is intended to encourage debate of emerging issues and set the agenda for the next edition of the book. Speakers: · Peter Droege, Director of the Liechtenstein Institute for Strategic Development. · Peter Newman, Professor of Sustainability at Curtin University , AO Order of Australia. · James Warren, Senior lecturer in the School of Engineering and Innovation. Target audience: Researchers and practitioners with an interest in transport, intelligent environments and the smart and sustainable built environment. Agenda: 14:00- Introduction – Transport in Intelligent Environments, Peter Droge. 14:05- Net Zero Corridors as the Basis of Net Zero Cities In this talk, Peter Newman will outline the new technology of Trackless Trams and discuss their potential to enable transport GHG reductions as well as power GHG reductions. This talk will draw on case studies from various Net Zero Precincts research projects across Australia. 14:25 - Looking back at Havana’s Bus Rapid Transit System Ten years have passed since Havana’s bus rapid transit system was proposed, designed, and then modelled. In this talk James will take a look backwards to see how, and if, the system has progressed and what lessons have been learned. The talk also looks at some of the more recent developments that have shaped the city transport system since 2014 and how these factors feed into the overall bus network as one of the key forms of transport. 14:45 – Discussion, Q&A Here is the link
