This talk will draw on case studies from various Net Zero Precincts research projects across Australia. 14:25 - Looking back at Havana’s Bus Rapid Transit System Ten years have passed since Havana’s bus rapid transit system was proposed, designed, and then modelled. In this talk James will take a look backwards to see how, and if, the system has progressed and what lessons have been learned. Many thanks to the International Institute for Climate Action (IICA) and it's President, Marija Pujo Tadić for the kind hospitality in Zagreb, Croatia and for inviting me to the #FUTUREGREENBUSINESSCONFERENCE on May 10th. Here's how I explored the future of the global surge in data centers: I highlighted how our international design firm, Urban A&O NYC, Inc., powers the global surge in data centers with clean tech solutions, including #SMRs, #PumpedStorageHydropower, #Geothermal, and #GreenBlueTurquoiseFuelCells — four game-changing new clean energy sources. Regarding #FuelCells in particular, each technology addresses different strategic goals: #greenhydrogen for maximum sustainability, #bluehydrogen as a practical compromise, and #naturalgas for immediate deployment benefits. #turquoisehydrogen is made using a process called methane pyrolysis to produce #hydrogen and #solidcarbon. In the future, #turquoisehydrogen may be valued as a #lowemission hydrogen, dependent on the thermal process being powered with renewable energy and the #carbon being permanently stored or used. As these technologies continue to develop, they play increasingly crucial roles in shaping the future energy strategies of data centers around the world. Our dedication to future-proofing our planet drives us to redefine net-zero/positive urbanism, architecture, and landscape, specifically addressing climate change and sustainability challenges. Throughout the lecture, I explored how our comprehensive approach leverages advanced computational design skills and groundbreaking net-zero materials and techniques, propelling data centers toward not just achieving net-zero carbon emissions, but becoming climate-positive, biodiverse, and nature-positive contributions to the built environment. We deliver a paradigm shift to the data center industry, demonstrating that the convergence of state-of-the-art net-zero data centers and industrial symbiosis—where the merging of two or more industries together produces maximum efficiency—is not only a visionary goal but a tangible reality.
