In honor of #internationalwomensday, I attended Molly Fletcher's GamechangHer power-packed event. Although, each speaker’s time was short, I really admired the speakers' level of diversity. The event was a valuable reminder that: - Women must empower women in the workplace, and - We set the ceiling on what we are capable of. --- Here are 8 pieces of advice I took away from the event that will motivate and encourage anyone: - “Be bold and think enough of yourself to believe you have what it takes for any dream under this blue sky.” - Diana Nyad - “Stand in your power, and extend that power to others.” - Tamron Hall - “I regret not playing bigger. Happy International Women’s Day! Today serves as a powerful reminder for me to confront my fears and assert my voice. It’s about rejecting the subtle prejudice of low expectations and insisting that the world acknowledge the capabilities and talents of women. We all have a responsibility to confront and challenge our biases against women. Let’s remember the vast potential of women: • Women can lead nations and helm corporations. • Women can generate wealth. • Women can educate and inspire. • Women can manage households. • Women can dominate in racing and sports. • Women can shine in arts and performance. • Women can drive small businesses forward. • Women can be powerful mentors and leaders. Women are allowed to stumble, learn from mistakes, and still achieve greatness. Let’s make a concerted effort to: • Hire women. • Promote women. • Educate women. • Celebrate women. It’s time to break the boundaries that constrain women’s potential. Why Women's Power Is The Key To A Thriving World. This International Women's Day, it's time to spotlight the powerhouses. Half the planet's talent. Half the world's potential. Women's empowerment isn't just about equality. It's an engine for progress, prosperity and a sustainable future for everyone. Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen nailed it when he said: "Development without the participation of women is like driving a car with one hand." Women's unique perspectives and experiences are not just valuable. They are essential. They are the catalysts for innovation and the drivers of economic growth. Look at the facts. When women flourish, communities thrive. It's that simple. Women are not just leading in the boardroom and shaping the business landscape. They're the architects of positive change. Fierce female founders are also on the rise. There has been a significant surge in female entrepreneurship in the UK, a government's report revealed in 2022 alone, women launched 150k new companies, doubling the figure from 2018. Yet, the journey has its challenges. The broken rung at the managerial ladder's base and the pervasive issue of workplace micro-aggressions highlight the need for sustained support and inclusive policies. As we celebrate the strides made, let's also pledge to bridge these gaps. To create an environment where every woman can realise her full potential to elevate society as a whole. Because when women rise, we all rise. Because when women ascend, society soars. Because when women thrive, humanity progresses.

The slogan /s for International Women’s Day 2024 is ‘Inspire Inclusion’ and ‘ Count Her In. Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress’. Both these messages are complimentary. Women in leadership positions can and should inspire other women to follow their dreams no matter how big or small they may be. It is not always about climbing to the topmost echelons of success but it is about achieving success in whatever you do and being able to do whatever you want to do. The truth of the matter is that not all women are fighting the same battles or winning the same battles. Some of us have it easy and make it our destination without much difficulty, while some others have to work doubly hard to get to where they aspire to. Some of us are able to stick to our paths, while some others have to sidestep and choose an alternate path. This choice may be a willing one or a difficult compromise. But whatever be our journey we need to celebrate our wins. Female leaders be it in business or in the community should lead the way to making the space more inclusive for other women and put practices in place that inspire inclusion. Organisations can invest in women by investing in programs that will allow women return to work after a break without doubt or hesitation. Companies must include provisions for this in their budget proposals. Investing in women to accelerate progress does not just mean investing in new opportunities, it also includes investing in the existing cohort of working women who are looking to upskill themselves and who may be looking for positions that could let them maintain the balance the aspire for in their lives. Investing in women to accelerate progress also means investing in men giving them better avenues to assist in child minding and child rearing duties. Women leaders can play a massive role in ensuring other women are included and inspired and newer pathways of inclusion are explored through investment for continuing growth.
