No one talks about how the holiday season can turn your routine upside down if you’re not prepared. 🫠 Halloween kicks it off next week, and before we know it, the season’s in full swing. For those of us running businesses, it’s all about staying productive without letting holidays take over completely. Here’s my plan to keep it together over the next couple of months: 1. Set Boundaries: Draw a line between work and personal time. If not, holiday distractions can quickly bleed into everything. 2. Focus on Priorities: With time limited, I’m laser-focused on what really matters and letting the other crap go. 3. Batch Tasks When You Can: I’m grouping similar tasks together to get more done at once. Less switching between tasks means I can free up more time for the holiday rush. How are you planning to handle the season? Got any holiday plans you’re excited about? 🎃 🎄 🦃 --- Follow me if you’re looking for real talk on entrepreneurship, taking risks, and chasing new ideas. 💪 Wanna chat? I've closed my calendar for December 🙅♀️ Every year, December promises rest and rejuvenation. But let’s be honest, those 2 weeks over Christmas? They’re never as restful as we need. Between family commitments, catching up with friends, and the weird time vortex of 27th-30th December, true rest can just feel out of reach for many of us. So this year, I’m trying something different. My calendar is officially closed to anything new in December. Why? 👉 I’m tired. 👉 No one buys anything in December anyway. 👉 I’d rather save my energy and come back raring to go in January than squeeze out every last drop before Christmas. I’ll still be working with my existing clients, but anything else? Nope. 2024 has been full on, and I’m calling it now: I need to slow down. Next year, I’m planning to set an even bigger boundary - taking all of December off from client work. Because when you run a service-based business, it’s so easy to let every month feel the same. But we need seasons, don’t we? Times to push, times to pause, and times to just be. If you’re a fellow service-based business owner, I want to ask: what would it look like for you to build real rest into your year? What season would feel right for you to slow down so you can speed up later? Because here’s the thing: taking time off isn’t just good for you - it’s good for your business, too. Let’s rest like we mean it. 💪 #Entrepreneurship #ServiceBasedBusiness #WorkLifeBalance #Rest

The holiday season can be both exciting and overwhelming, and it's easy to get caught up in the hustle. Remember, saying "no" to things that stress you out is just as valuable as saying "yes" to the things you truly feel excited about. Give yourself permission to simplify, focus on what really matters, and make room for moments that fill you with calm and connection. Make choices that nurture your well-being, both now and in the future. Stay grounded, stay intentional, and make space for what matters most. ❤️ You can read more tips on my blog, Tis the Season to Pause. Sunday Scaries are real! I used to hear clients talking about this a lot. Sundays would show up and the anxiety would set in quickly. Thoughts about starting another week. Worries about the never-ending to-do list. Wondering if you would make it through another week to get to the next time you can disconnect and just enjoy friends and family. Sadness because the “fun” of the weekend was coming to an end. I never thought I was someone who experienced Sunday Scaries. But as an entrepreneur, I think it has been more prominent. When you work for yourself, you are usually the one that drives the revenue generation. Even if you are not the sole money-maker, your company usually operates because you are infusing the energy, spirit, and hard work into it. Now, I know there are folks who are entrepreneurs who have been able to step back from pivotal roles in their business because of how they have built it. But admittedly, I am not there yet. So as this amazing weekend with my hubby comes to an end, I feel the Sunday Scaries starting to creep in. So much to do, so little time…literally. But I do intentionally try to keep those scaries at bay: Intentional time with friends and family Keeping my Sunday filled with either activities or intentional down time. Reminding myself that I’m enough and I worked really hard the previous week. So going into this week, be proud of all that you have done thus far. Scheduling fun and pleasure throughout my work week, so I’ not desperately longing for the weekends. What about you? How are you keeping those Sunday Scaries from taking over?

This last week was a reminder that life loves to test us 👇 🚰 I didn’t drink enough water (oops). 🤒 Tonsillitis decided to join the party, leaving me skipping some walks and rides while I recovered. 👩👧 I juggled an ill child at home while working, proving once again that flexibility is key when you’re a small business owner. This month in general has taught me a lot about myself and my business. I’ve learnt to believe in myself more. Good things are happening, and I know there’s more to come. I’ve realised I don’t need to rush. Slowing down can still lead to achieving my goals. And, I’ve embraced my habit of procrastination (it’s part of who I am!) while building a brilliant network to keep me focused and motivated. Looking ahead, December will bring fresh challenges and opportunities, and of course Christmas celebrations begin! Happy Sunday evening to all, and here’s to starting December with fresh energy and optimism. What’s one thing you’re looking forward to this month? #SundayReflections #SmallBusinessOwner #Optimism

It's Tuesday, even though it feels like Monday. And there is renewal in the air. My kid just walked onto a school bus for the first day of Kindergarten. It's cold outside which means with the start of school, we're saying goodbye to summer. And as I sit here with blueberry-stained fingers after making my daughter pancakes for breakfast, I'm realizing that with September, it's the new unofficial start for each family member. My daughter is off to a new school with new friends to make and new things to learn. My husband has a new boss and new projects and clients to take on. Even our dog Ellie has a new routine, waking up earlier, waiting with us at the end of the street for the bus to whisk away her favorite playmate. For me, September marks a time to reevaluate and enhance my business Rumphius Marketing. It's an invitation to think about how I can improve client and partner relationships, streamline projects, new requests and contracts, and manage time more effectively yet remaining unique and creative. And I think this seasonal shift is a chance to not only set new goals but to also appreciate the progress we've made. As we embrace new beginnings, it's a perfect moment to reflect on our own journeys and the fresh opportunities that come with them. Just like my daughter stepping onto that school bus, we too can face our challenges with courage and excitement. Whether it's adapting to new professional landscapes like my husband, or finding new rhythms in our daily routines like Ellie. Here's to making the most of the new start that September brings for all of us! What are you focused on? Also, how do I get blueberry off my hands?

We made it through one set of the Holidays this season! Congrats! It might not seem like a big deal, especially since it could be the same family gathering with the all too familiar family drama or depending on what’s happening in your life right now, this could be one of the hardest things you’ve had to go through. If that’s you, I’m deeply sorry. 🔆 As we get back into our day to day routines and prepare for the next set of holidays, there’s one thing to keep in mind that will change how we experience these upcoming holidays. ✨ This could look like: ◾ Connecting authentically with family members and friends you care most about. ◾ Remaining calm and centered, despite others’ trying to get in your business and doing your best to see their well-meaning intentions behind their words and behaviors. ◾ Focusing on getting through this season with composure and grace and keeping a special place in your heart for those who are missed, in your own way and in your own time and being at peace with this process. ◾ Deciding not to engage in or be an enabler in regards to any drama that isn’t for the highest good of everyone involved. No matter what that is for you, once you decide, make a game plan for how you’ll see your intentions through. Next week we’ll share ideas on how you can do just that! ⚡🎉Keep calm and stay tuned.

🎅 𝙄𝙩’𝙨 𝙉𝙤𝙩 𝙊𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙐𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙁𝙖𝙩 𝙂𝙪𝙮 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙨 𝘿𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘾𝙝𝙞𝙢𝙣𝙚𝙮! 🎅 Yesterday, I posted that many business owners think December is a write-off for business. They tell themselves, “The year’s done—let’s just coast to the holidays.” And guess what? That’s exactly how it plays out. December becomes a quiet, uneventful month where nothing changes. But here’s the truth: 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙤𝙪𝙩. If you’re convinced your best opportunities are behind you this year, 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙖𝙧𝙚. But if you flip the script—𝙞𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙙𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙙𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙣𝙚𝙭𝙩 𝙛𝙚𝙬 𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙠𝙨 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙗𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚, 𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙛𝙪𝙡 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙧—you’ll be amazed at what you can accomplish. Most of your competition? They’re in holiday mode. 𝘾𝙤𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜. Wrapping up loose ends. Waiting for January. 𝘽𝙪𝙩 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙙𝙞𝙙𝙣’𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙞𝙩? What if, instead of coasting, you put the pedal down and started 𝙘𝙧𝙪𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜? While others are winding down, you could be winding up—and setting yourself up to hit January already in full swing. I’ve put together 𝙖 𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙘𝙠𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙩 𝙤𝙛 25 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙚𝙨 to help you do exactly that. It’s not some fluff-filled download—it’s packed with actionable ideas you can start using today. Imagine reconnecting with cold leads, turning surplus inventory into a cash boost, or creating a holiday-only offer that has customers scrambling to buy. One of my favourite strategies? A simple “Gratitude Campaign” that one client used to generate a flood of referrals—all by saying thank you. The difference between coasting and cruising isn’t time—𝙞𝙩’𝙨 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙨𝙚𝙩. So let me ask: how do you want this year to end? On autopilot? Or full of momentum and possibilities? If you’re ready to finish strong, 𝙩𝙮𝙥𝙚 𝘾𝙍𝙐𝙄𝙎𝙄𝙉𝙂 in the comments, and I’ll send you the checklist to help you make the most of the final weeks of 2024. It’s not over until the fat guy comes down the chimney—𝙡𝙚𝙩’𝙨 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝘿𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙗𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙮𝙚𝙩.
