Selling Like Hot Takes Alan Wolk & TVREV are out with another episode of Hot Takes - polling big brains from around the industry on their latest ah-ha's. This edition asks "What Trends Are The Industry Sleeping On?" Not sure which makes me happier: Being called a "loquacious map man;" getting to call out the collective ignorance by the TV/FAST/AVOD/SVOD community of YouTube as BOTH their biggest challenger AND largest opportunity as "dumbfounding;" or seeing Wolk refer to this as "ostrich-like." Either way, get everyone's Hottest Takes on TVREV here: https://lnkd.in/erHuRqku
I've considered recording a voice note and just playing it on loop. I cannot say it enough to my TV and IP pals that they need to be watching YouTube - no pun intended (well maybe a little bit). And don’t just watch it, work with it! 🙄 It was hard enough getting them to integrate any kind of real-time tech or interaction into existing programming. Convincing them to move outside of the broadcast bubble is even tougher. They'll come around eventually. They don't have much choice - resistance is futile!
Who knew hot takes could feel so refreshingly insightful?
Forget the broadcast networks....I think we need an Alan Wolk and Evan Shapiro YouTube show.

2moThe amount of eye rolls I got from folks in the industry when I would bring up YouTube. There’s a massive change coming and they still refuse to take it seriously. It reminds me so much of comedians with podcasts. I heard stories of comedians having podcasts and their agents not taking it seriously, and then all of a sudden podcasts blew up, and then the agents wanted a piece of the pie.
