The Feedback Form for EPA’s Whole-Building Energy Data Campaign Submission Deadline is approaching: The EPA seeking feedback for Whole-Building Energy Data Campaign and is seeking insights from building owners, managers, benchmarking service providers, and other stakeholders. The primary aim is to understand the specific needs for energy data and the reasons behind these needs. Submissions are due by Friday, June 7. Overview of EPA’s Whole-Building Energy Data Campaign: Despite an increasing number of utilities providing whole-building energy data, over 90% of U.S. utilities still do not offer this information. To address this, the EPA has initiated a campaign to aid building owners in advocating for access to this essential data. The campaign includes four key components: 1. Input Collection: Soliciting feedback from building owners, managers, and related parties on specific needs for energy data and the reasons for these needs. 2. Resource Development: Crafting resources that outline the issue and aid building owners in engaging with utilities across the nation. This includes a summary of the inputs gathered in the first phase of the campaign. 3. Facilitated Meetings: Organizing interactions between utilities and building owners in selected areas to promote dialogue. Participation in these meetings depends on commitments from building owners. 4. Utility Support: Assisting utilities interested in providing data, ensuring alignment with industry best practices. Call for Input - due June 7: The campaign’s initial phase focuses on collecting input to better understand where and why energy data is crucial. We encourage submissions from building owners, managers, benchmarking firms, and others by the upcoming deadline, Friday, June 7. This initiative not only aims to gather critical insights but also to foster a cooperative dialogue between utilities and building stakeholders, paving the way for enhanced energy data accessibility.

My post today for Steve Reese and Reese Energy Consulting. Reese Gets Down to the Basics Whether you call natural gas the cleanest, most abundant, low-cost hydrocarbon on planet Earth or a transitional fuel to bridge the next era of world energy, understanding this miracle molecule is essential for those who work—or plan to work—in businesses that depend on gas to grow and thrive. Reese Energy Consulting today is proud to introduce the next era of our sister company, Reese Energy Training, which after decades of educating students and employees of some of the nation’s leading oil and gas companies, has officially released its first online course, Natural Gas Basics. And while this is a pretty big deal for us, we also know it’s a pretty big deal for those who’ve taken this course over the years when originally delivered live by our own Steve Reese in corporate training rooms across the country. Yeah, he’s all that a bag of Cheetos in person, but he also understands today’s time crunch on folks who need to gain as much knowledge as they possibly can—as quickly as they can—on their own time, at their own pace. So Steve’s put together a series of courses, starting with Natural Gas Basics, that eschews any fluff and gets right down to business. For producers and midstreamers, Reese Energy Training’s Natural Gas Basics offers a real-world understanding of that miracle molecule and its journey from wellhead to market—from gathering, compression, treating, and processing, to pipeline transmission, markets, distribution, and end users. We’ve saddled up with Energy Rogue to provide a comprehensive, no-holds-barred emersion into the world of natural gas and its role in today’s energy mix at a price that fits every budget. Recent government mandates have been enacted with the objective of reducing carbon emissions and promoting energy efficiency across various sectors. These regulations set forth specific requirements for property owners to improve their energy usage and reduce their carbon footprint. Here are some of the critical aspects you need to be aware of: Energy Performance Standards Properties must meet minimum energy performance standards by 2025. This includes implementing energy-efficient systems and technologies. Carbon Emission Reduction Targets Each property must achieve specified reductions in carbon emissions. This might involve upgrading insulation, installing renewable energy sources, and adopting smart energy management systems. Energy Audits Regular energy audits will become mandatory to ensure compliance with energy performance standards. These audits will help identify areas for improvement and track progress over time. Penalties for Non-Compliance Failure to meet the established deadlines can result in substantial fines and penalties. It is imperative to start planning and implementing changes now to avoid these repercussions. — How Solo Energy Can Assist At Solo Energy, we specialize in helping property owners achieve their energy efficiency and sustainability goals. Our expert team can conduct thorough energy audits, recommend and install state-of-the-art energy systems, and provide ongoing support to ensure you stay compliant with upcoming regulations. We’ve got a deal that benefits everyone: If your business hosts an energy site audit, you will gain valuable insight on your energy use – at no cost. In return, researchers will use the audit data to ensure the quality and efficacy of the National Buildings Database, which will help us reach our net zero goals. 🌱 UCL's Building Stock Lab is creating the National Buildings Database which will include every single building in Great Britain. Buildings are responsible for 30 percent of greenhouse gas emissions in the country. To reach net zero by 2050, we will have to eliminate emissions from them. 🏭 Our partner, Verco, will be conducting site visits to ensure that the data is correct and to gain insight into our daily energy use. As a host you will benefit from a visit from an experienced auditor that will result in insights that will be shared with you both during and after the audit, including: ✅ Actions you could take to improve your building’s energy efficiency ✅Guidance on any programmes and funding available to help you increase your energy efficiency and reduce your carbon emissions ✅Energy Benchmarks that will compare your building’s energy and gas performance to typical and best practice performance. The benchmark data can be used to calculate the annual savings per year you could expect if improvements were made. ✅Understanding how to ensure the accuracy of your EPC rating ✅Access to a standard IES simulation model, at no cost Your help in creating an accurate inventory of buildings in GB and how we use energy in our daily lives, will inform our nation’s energy policy moving forward. Worries about volatile energy prices are not being matched with plans to mitigate against them, a new report has found. ‘Energy on an Industrial Scale’, commissioned by Mitsubishi Electric, surveyed 200 senior decision-makers in UK manufacturing about how the sector can increase its overall resilience. It found that 91 per cent of respondents expressed concern over energy price security and 85 per cent were worried about grid resilience. Despite this, 24 per cent of those questioned had a fully implemented on-site energy management system and 27 per cent employed a dedicated energy manager. In recent years, Scope 3 emissions have become the latest buzzword, while energy management seems to have lost some the attention that it truly deserves. When you break it down, Scope 3 emissions are mostly emissions related to the energy consumption of processes that occur upstream or downstream of your own operations. It’s easy to get lost in the complexity, but understanding how emissions are created in the first place can help us better appreciate the impact of specific processes or products and provide the knowledge and data required to drive efficiency and reduce emissions. If you're interested in learning how to conduct energy audits to assess your own, your suppliers’, or your clients’ energy demand—and develop strategies to drive efficiency and lower emissions—consider joining my workshop this Wednesday at 11am, part of the Energy Managers Association workshop series. I hope to see you there #energymanagement #carbonmanagement #KEES #carbon #CDP
