Landing an entry-level job can be challenging. My advice to recent grads on navigating the job search in the current hiring climate... 1. Network: Utilize your career services office, Alums, friends, family, student organizations, professors, etc. to connect you with companies you are interested in! 2. Know the Recruiting Calendar: Take note of when applications will go live for specific roles you are interested in. You can do this by reaching out to the recruiter or attending information sessions hosted by the company. Having your resume ready and being one of the first applicants is always a good idea! #GetStarted #CitizensColleague

Solid advice here. Rotational programs can be great options to consider, and I have said the same thing to students about tailoring their resume. It's not just a "career advisor thing to say". You can keep shooting your shot by applying to opportunities with a non-tailored resume, but you need to ask yourself... is your resume truly highlighting the key words in the job description you are applying to and is your approach working? Definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

Here's 2 mistakes I made on my post grad job hunt and my advice for new/recent graduates to help them avoid them: (part 2 of what I'd do to increase my chances of finding an entry level role post grad: https://lnkd.in/g5jJY2VP) 1. Not applying to rotational programs I WISH I knew about new grad rotational programs when I was on my search. They're a great way to 1) ease into corporate world, 2) helpful if you don't have much professional experience, and 3) give you exposure to different departments in an industry you're interested. ⭐ Here's my content about rotational programs with 50+ programs to check out: https://lnkd.in/eRNxj9Eh https://lnkd.in/dcTZpGzf https://lnkd.in/gWx4kkHf 2. Mass applying to roles with the same resume I thought having 1 resume with all of my experiences was enough but I realized that my past resumes weren't clear and specific enough about the role(s) I was interested in. I know you're probably tired of hearing this but you need to tailor your resume to the roles/industry you're applying for. If you're interested in roles across different industries, create different resumes for that industry. For example, I have: - a Marketing/Sales resume that lists all of my past marketing and sales roles - a University Recruiting resume that lists all of my past relevant uni recruiting experience - a general resume with all of my experiences ⭐ Here's content i have about creating a standout resume: https://lnkd.in/ghu4eZgi https://lnkd.in/gZ4gcnvx ⭐ Additional Resources: - Here's a helpful guide to help you on your job hunt: https://lnkd.in/girxUSaY - Tomorrow, I'm hosting a panel on WayUp with a group of talented early career folks sharing how to find an entry level post graduation! Summer vacation is over for many meaning hiring managers are back, ready to make a push for Q4! This is typically our most successful time for placements, which means it could also be the time your unemployment streak comes to an end. Companies want to hire great people, and the way you showcase your value is through a standout resume, a compelling cover letter, and by applying to positions where you’re a strong fit. When companies are getting hundreds or thousands of applications you have to stand out. Your resume is your foot in the door—it can't be just okay. Tailor your resume and application to the job you’re pursuing, answer all application questions thoughtfully, and make sure your LinkedIn and pre-screening calls reflect your best self. It’s a process, but it can be mastered and gamed. Identify your weaknesses, turn them into strengths, and win the fight. If you've been struggling, what’s one area of your job search that you think has been holding you back? #JobSearch #CareerTips #Hiring #ResumeTips #Q4 #GetHired #LinkedIn
