Join us and our faith partners for Earth Week 2024🌎 - Together for the Love of Creation. During the week of April 21 - 28, engage in a climate justice activity…praying, learning, acting. Mark Earth Week in a way that reflects and challenges your community. Here are some ideas… 🙏Praying: Include special prayers in your service. Hold a prayer service in creation. 🎓Learning: Hold an open house to share the greening efforts on your property. Host a Faithful Climate Conversation. Invite a speaker (e.g. a youth or Indigenous COP delegate, or a local Indigenous land or water protector). ✊Acting: Meet with elected officials about climate policy. Organize a collective carbon footprint audit. Participate in Indigenous-led land based activity. "Democratic processes and civil society must be backed to localize investments and increase credibility, ensuring that activists can continue their work safely even after COP29 concludes. This collective approach is essential to counter the rise of authoritarianism and enable civil society to play its role in driving climate action. That’s why we draw the attention of the international community to the condition of civil society organizations, because a weakened civil society leads to human rights violations and hinders climate real solutions. Activists across the region rely heavily on international partnerships and funding. As Climate Action Network for Eastern Europe, the Caucause and Central Asia, we urge Western institutions, governments, and donors to continue supporting civil society in our region, create flexible funding mechanisms, and ensure that NGOs and activists are not left to face authoritarian governments alone".

Local governments are the unsung heroes of sustainable development. They're on the ground, implementing policies that shape our communities. However, to truly achieve a net-zero, circular, and climate-resilient future, we need stronger partnerships between local, national, and international leaders 🤝 The G7 has recognized the transformative power of cities 🏙 Now, it's time to deliver on that promise. By integrating urban perspectives, supporting local climate action, and fostering democratic governance, we can create a more sustainable and equitable world for all 🌍 Find out more on https://lnkd.in/eFaVsa_3 #G7 #ClimateAction #UrbanDevelopment

Let's keep brushing our teeth and voting at every election. If you let these healthy habits slip, at one point you can wake up with rotten teeth or in a country without independent courts and media. And btw: don't forget to make time for #climateaction
Please go vote next week - for a more just and sustainable Europe! Yesterday, we fought the rain to show up at the climate demo for what might be the most important election of this year. Many key environmental and social issues are primarily driven and decided by the #EUparlament. So, use your democratic vote next week and make a difference! Today marks the EU’s #overshootday. That means that if global populations mirrored the #consumption patterns of the #EU, humanity would exhaust the planet's natural resources available for the year by 3 May. On this occasion, 317 civil society organisations are in an open letter calling on the heads of state and government, the Presidents of the European Commission, the Council of the European Union, and the European Parliament and its Members to make a political commitment to work towards a climate-neutral, zero-pollution, and nature-positive #economy. This follows an unprecedented and disturbing amount of backtracking by politicians in recent months, as #green policies are being instrumentalised for short-term electoral gains and populism. We call for: 🌾 Deepening and accelerating the #GreenDeal by fully implementing recently agreed goals and addressing ambition gaps on #nature, #climate, and #pollution 🏦 Radically increasing public climate, #environment, and #social #investments 🇪🇺 Strengthening EU #governance, #democracy, and the effective participation of #civilsociety.
