Since ramping up social media in March, I’ve gained nearly 4,000 new connections so it’s about time to re-introduce myself if you don’t know much about me: I was born and raised in New York. My parents immigrated to the United States in 1989 from Kosovo, allowing me and my family (below) to have some of the best opportunities to succeed, and in my household growing up, we never took that for granted. In fact, the culture adjustment was more significant than you might expect, even though I’m native to the U.S. Growing up within my household, it was like a foreign country with the way we were raised, and outside of those walls it was America. Balancing the expectations at home with a more lenient American culture wasn’t always the easiest thing to do. In relatable terms, there was no way I could go out and party with friends and do whatever I wanted at 16 or 17 years old. But that discipline was instilled in me at a critical time. It helped me balance my education while playing college baseball, which included covering 2nd base and the hot corner at 3rd depending on defensive coaching strategies. If you know anything about sports or baseball, playing both of those positions isn’t the easiest task. I was done with cold weather after college and took a job as a multifamily project manager in Tampa, eventually became a construction director, relocated to Austin, back to Tampa, and then to North Carolina. If you’ve bounced around the country for work, you know how exhausting that can be when you’re just starting a career. Eventually made the jump from multifamily to storage, which was a huge turning point. My partner Frank and I gained an incredible amount of experience acquiring class B and C value-add properties, which eventually led us into brokerage. There was a huge opportunity to leverage our experience on the sell-side of commercial real estate; we took the risk based on the upside. Fast forward to today, we’ve closed nearly 80 transactions in a relatively short span. We’ve been fortunate enough to triple the size of our team, thanks to all the support we’ve received at Franklin Street over the last 2 years. We are always looking to connect with genuine people in this industry, it’s the best way to get business done. Whether you’re interested in our goals as a team, working with us on the deal side, or just want to share your experience, I’d love to hear from you. Cheers, -David [email protected] (914) 365-0752
