This month, we are working with a national association to create their strategic direction and priorities. We’ve worked with them to launch a Statice-designed survey of their membership and key opinion leaders, prepare high-level observations and will facilitate an in-person meeting of their Board of Directors. Our partnership will be an opportunity for this organization to . . ✔️ Align with the benefits and priorities their membership values. ✔️ Strengthen them as an organization. ✔️ Align their strategic plan with their budget and resources. ✔️ Create a detailed list of next steps to take this organization to the next level. ACSA’s Governmental Relations team luncheon update at the Leadership Summit with Sr. Director of Governmental Relations Iván Carrillo, and legislative advocates, Dorothy Johnson and Serette Kaminski. This year the lunch panel was facilitated by ACSA Sr. Director of Marketing & Communications Naj Alikhan. Key points to note include recognition that a new set of legislators could change the landscape for education. - Representatives are much more reflective of the state of California, especially in terms of gender. - dissolving the department of education is not realistic as it requires 60 votes to pass, and that does not seem likely at this time. -Waiting to see who is going to be in charge of state policy and what the new legislators will decide to champion. - Best way to advocate: know who your policy committee representatives are. If you know about new legislators and have relationships with them, please connect with ACSA.

Group work remains one of the most important clinical and educative interventions that we can offer. It is also an exciting, rich forum full of social connection and growth. Learning how to facilitate a group is a skill set that will stand you in good stead for service delivery and also in all aspects of life, given that we are in all sorts of groups all of the time.
