Enterprise L&D: In 1979 I learned that most Training Needs Analyses were really Training Wants Analyses. The better approach is to start with Performance Requirements and a Gap Analysis and then derive the Enabling Knoweldge and Skills for the client to prioritize from each set.

We have some milestone notifications to make!! Congratulations to Cadorath's newly Certified Operation Excellence Belt recipients!!! This team took the lead on a "very" strategic change management transformation in their Zinc and Specialty Departments. Engaging 100% of the staff through their participation in training, the launch and taking ownership of their new Optimization Systems. The team was up to the challenge with a "no stone unturned" approach. From the re-vamping of the Visual Communication Huddles by developing a closed loop idea generation and implementation system that utilizes leader standard work methodologies while driving ownership and positive change at all levels. Included in the transformation, "meaningful" metrics where developed to aligned with Safety, Quality, Productivity and Total Productive Maintenance, allowing for real time analysis and adjustment as required through a "closed loop" system. A true Transformation through collaboration and empowerment with a no blame environment approach that is supported by all levels of leadership to ensure ongoing sustainability into the future. Well done to all - as they say "The Journey Never Ends" it just gets more Exciting!!!!! 🚀 Did you miss the learning?🚀 🙌 I'm putting the final document together for follow-up, but before I finish that I want to say a huge thank you to the members, the leaders, and the attendees at the workshop Chesapeake Bay Organization Development Network, Mark Sachs, and I hosted last night. 🔻 📈 Our purpose was to discuss demonstrating value and quantifiable impact with our work, including some learning and break-out activities where participants successfully applied what they were learning. 💸 Just some of the check-out reflections at the end included:💸 🧩 At least 3 people mentioned learning about the importance of SPIN Selling and how critical it is to making it about the client and understanding their situation. 🧩 "If you make it quantifiable and you do a discovery, you’ve already got your measurements [to evaluate] the work." 🧩 " Don't worry about a solution until you know [and fully understand] the problem." 🧩 " This is the investment that I can help you make to solve your problem." 🧩 " Quantifying impact is not that complicated." 🧩 " focus on impact of the problem, get a $ amount of the problem and how would you reinvest." 💣 Wow, what a cool experience to facilitate.
