🌍 Post Continuation 💫 I had a lot to say, but it couldn't fit into one post. Here's a continuation of my learning experience with #ClimateVoicesNG The second part of the session, "Climate Financing and Technology: Tools for Agenda Setting," was facilitated by Abbas Agbaje (PIEMA, GRI-CSP) Key takeaways from this session include: Climate finance refers to financial resources dedicated to supporting climate action initiatives. Climate action is typically categorized into two main areas: 1. Climate Mitigation: Involves taking proactive steps to prevent the worst impacts of climate change. Financial resources in this context can be allocated towards research for developing alternative solutions and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. 2. Climate Adaptation: Focuses on building societal resilience and enabling communities to adapt to the effects of climate change. Funding can be directed towards addressing adverse consequences such as property damage, loss of life, and agricultural decline due to climate-related events. Technology plays a crucial role in climate action: - New technologies can be developed to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions, provide early warnings about temperature increases and impending disasters, and educate individuals about the causes, impacts, and solutions to climate change (Climate Mitigation). - Technologies can also be harnessed to assist society in adapting to the adverse effects of climate change, such as developing agricultural practices resilient to extreme heat. Climate Action requires funding and technological support!. While governments play a significant role, WE also have a responsibility to contribute to climate action efforts. Let's continue our journey towards a sustainable future together! 🌍💚 #Sustainability #ClimateAction #Climateactionfunding

At Kaya Partners we are proud to provide a special report for the Inevitable Policy Response. As we navigate the ongoing complexities of global developments in climate policy, these insights are key to understanding and overcoming the challenges ahead. 📑 Our first paper delves into "Maximising Decarbonisation and Minimising China's Dominance of Clean Energy." It explores strategies to accelerate global decarbonisation while balancing the geopolitical landscape. 📑 The second paper, "Republicans vs Democrats," examines the contrasting approaches to climate policy in the US and their implications for national and global climate action. 📑 In our third paper, "Introducing Carbon Intensity in Trade," we discuss the integration of carbon intensity metrics in international trade agreements, a vital step for aligning economic and environmental goals. 📑 The fourth paper, "Agriculture: The Battle for a Climate Solution," focuses on the pivotal role of agriculture in climate strategies, zooming in on the themes to watch under the next commission. Stay tuned for the release of these papers and engage with us to explore these pivotal topics further. #ClimateAction #Sustainability #Decarbonisation #Geopolitics #ClimatePolicy #CleanEnergy #Trade #Agriculture #KayaPartners #IPR

Two articles today on the costs of climate change and containment measures: - Financial Times cites J.P. Morgan on the costs and difficulties in phasing off fossil fuels, expecially in a context where new demand is being added in developing nations - Springer Nature Group publish a study from PIK - Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research estimating the cost (in the region of %GDP Per capita) of climate change mitigation measures or inaction. Now, the problem is not only phisical (it's getting hotter) or economic (it's getting expensive). It's also business (how to make money out of it) and political (who shoulder the costs and who harvest the benefits). These aspects are rarely discussed, but are central to understanding and solving the problem. #climatechange #cost #profit

🌍 Understanding Climate Change: A Book That Stands Out 🌱 Recently, I finished reading "Backstage Climate: The Science and Politics Behind Climate Change" by Rajan Mehta, and it has left a lasting impression. What struck me most is how the book connects the dots between scientific evidence and global policymaking. It dives into topics like greenhouse gas emissions, the carbon cycle, and international climate agreements in a way that's not just informative but also accessible. One takeaway that stayed with me: tackling climate change isn’t just about reducing emissions—it’s about creating systems that align environmental goals with economic realities. This perspective is crucial as we move toward mechanisms like the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) that challenge industries to rethink sustainability on a global scale. For me, this book has been a great reminder that every small action matters, whether it’s how we conduct business or the conversations we have about the future. 📚 If you’re just starting your journey into understanding climate change or want to strengthen your knowledge, I highly recommend this book. What about you? Have you read any book or resource that shifted your perspective on sustainability? #Sustainability #ClimateChange #CBAM #GreenFuture
