Do you have Confidence Building and Mindset Shifts in your leadership development programs? If not, you probably won't get the desired results from the program. Research shows that Lack of or Low Confidence is the top reason your managers are not behaving like leaders. Most managers are not able to make the shift from Doing to Leading and that is because they don't have the confidence to leave what they know/comfort zone (DOING) to Leading, which they have very little experience in doing. Normally the approach to fix this would be to gather more information and knowledge via an MBA or other leadership development programs. But more knowledge is not going to make them a better leader or more confident nor does it shift their mindset. A program that includes shifting mindsets (not the theory of it but practical tools that shifts mindsets) and confidence building through identify and shifting beliefs and habits. Last week, our director Natalie Lincolne attended the Future of Leadership Summit #ieclsummit24 in Sydney, where groundbreaking insights shared from renowned industry experts will form an integral role in shaping our future leadership training and coaching material. Some of the key takeaways for leaders and coaches:   ⭐️ Leadership is getting tired. There are new capabilities required of leaders in this #VUCA and #BANI world we operate in, and the capabilities we have been building need to both expand and sharpen. ⭐️ We have a leadership capability gap (thanks Brad Twynham and many of the panelists who made this point in various ways), and we need to radically recreate leadership development, so that leaders are equipped to deliberately and consciously shape their environment in a world of unprecedented pace of change, uncertainty and complexity. ⭐️ Great leaders need to be more human in this time of AI and fast-paced change, be clear on their team’s purpose, stand “on the rooftop” (thanks Stephen Gray) to see beyond the balcony view, and be able to adapt without attachment so they can remain curious, open minded and flexible about how their teams operate.   ⭐️ Every leader needs to be reflective, authentic and forward looking. Training is needed, but it will only take you so far. Every leader needs a coach, and every leader needs to be a good coach. How effective is your personal leadership, and what’s its impact in the context in which you lead?  If you cannot immediately answer, it’s high time you find the time, curiosity, and boldness to explore the Leadership Circle Profile. Some of my bold clients did just that in the first half of July. This month has been incredibly fulfilling so far, with 8 debriefs of the Leadership Circle Profile already completed. I’ve been wonderfully reminded of how these sessions are one of my favourite parts of my work with leaders in organisations. The Leadership Circle Profile conversations remind me of the complexity of our world, our humanity, and our experiences within our contexts – far from being simply black or white. They beautifully highlight the importance of navigating the edges between who we are and who we are becoming, our intentions versus our impact, and the balance of being a good enough leader in our given context while striving for improvement. These deep conversations always provide clarity on my clients' leadership within their operational contexts. This month, they have particularly revealed what the context expects, what wants to change, and what the risk is that they need to take to be the catalyst for that change. While it's a complex matter, these discussions often lead to a simple (though not easy!) "one big thing" that has the potential to spark a ripple effect on many other competencies and tendencies, enhancing their overall leadership effectiveness. Middle managers EQ must beat the IQ to secure the leadership and talent pipeline within your organisation 👀 Those were one of the provocative insights and data points Sofia Frydkjær and I shared with a CFO network in Middelfart on the topic on how to create most value out of your Gen Zs and how to utilise the different generations to maximize the value within your organisation. The insights were, among others, related to a new study from Danish Industry and Tænketanken EQUALIS revealing that the first manager has a significant influence on aspiring leaders way into leadership. We also presented the current data supplemented with insights from our members at Female Leadership Academy on generational leadership and shared practical advice on how you as a leader can create most value out of Gen Z. The takeaways were many, but here you get a sneak peak: 1. Acknowledge individual differences: To create value from Generation Z in the workplace, it's important not to generalize but to lead based on individual differences within the generation. 2. Direct and transparent communication fosters psychological safety: Generation Z needs clear communication and alignment of expectations, which promotes an inclusive culture and psychological safety. 3. Adapt communication and reward methods: Generation Z is flexible in their communication styles and has high expectations for recognition and rewards, which should be tailored to their individual preferences and need.
