New paper! 📑 If AI is to best serve the public good, what key tenets must be in place? Should we change how we view AI and think about some elements more like infrastcure than tools? How will different publics, institutions, and governments navigate introducing such multi-purpose, value-laden technology into key systems? All questions we explore in this new paper on ‘Public AI’. Enjoyed working on this with other members of the Public AI network to think about the foundational theory, how this could manifest in the real world, and map existing explorations happening around the globe. The headline? Public AI would have to: - have public access - have public accountability, and - support permanent public good Amazing work from my co-authors Brandon Jackson, B Cavello, Nicholas P. Garcia, Joshua Tan, SJ klein, Alex Krasodomski-Jones, and Eleanor Tursman, as well as the wider network who supported making this happen. Read the paper here:
