Powerful demonstration of high precission tunable THz source!
Great keynote session yesterday at the Berlin 6G Conference when Christina Gessner, Executive Vice-President at Rohde & Schwarz, discussed how 6G technologies will contribute to resilience, security and sustainability of societies in the opening session with the German Federal Minister Bettina Stark-Watzinger. Further highlights were our research efforts into 6G, such as the 6G-LICRIS and 6G-ADLANTIK, projects coordinated by Rohde & Schwarz and funded by the Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF). We're excited to be part of such an important community and happy to take part in six of the 18 projects defining the future of wireless communications. Wondering what some of these projects are? 🚀 6G-ADLANTIK is aiming for an ultra-stable tunable THz system for 6G wireless communication and test & measurement based on photonics. 🚀 6G-LICRIS is looking into enhancing the coverage and capacity of future 6G networks while minimizing power consumption with Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) based on liquid crystals. #makeideasreal #wirelesscommunication #6G #BMBF

5G Without Limits: Japanese Scientists Develop Efficient Wireless-Powered Transceiver Array. Researchers at Tokyo Tech have developed a groundbreaking 256-element wirelessly powered transceiver array for 5G communication, designed to address challenges like low SNR and signal blockage due to physical obstacles. This array utilizes beamforming and advanced power conversion technologies to enhance signal quality and extend network coverage, particularly in non-line-of-sight environments. By achieving significant improvements in power conversion efficiency and SNR, this transceiver array promises to expand 5G accessibility and reliability, thereby fostering more ubiquitous and effective wireless communication - https://lnkd.in/grRJbNhW #5G

Nokia and Zayo Group have announced the successful completion of a live field trial of Nokia’s sixth-generation Photonic Service Engine super-coherent optics (PSE-6s), demonstrating a world's first 1 Tb/s transmission on Zayo’s LA to Phoenix route at over 1000km. The companies also achieved a North American transmission record of 800Gb/s over a single wavelength from LA to El Paso on a 1866km link, also using the Nokia PSE-6s. The field trial showcases the power of Nokia’s latest generation of coherent optics and Zayo’s state-of-the-art optical transport network in providing high-capacity solutions to keep up with soaring global traffic demand resulting from an increasingly digitalized world.

#Reconfigurable #intelligent #surface (#RIS) is capable of improving the wireless system performance by steering the reflected signal in the desired direction. One of the major challenges is that both the transceiver and RIS have to be jointly optimized, where the optimization problems have to be reformulated for different system models and scenarios. To circumvent this challenge, new low-complexity #antenna #selection (#AS) algorithms for transceiver-agnostic RIS configuration are proposed. Given a multiple-input multiple-output (#MIMO) channel, the proposed RIS-AS opts for accurately aligning the RIS both with the transmit antenna (TA) and receive antenna (RA) for the sake of maximizing the MIMO channel’s overall output power. The proposed RIS-AS only has to configure the RIS alone, i.e. without iterations with the transceiver optimization. ---- Chao Xu, Jiancheng An, Tong Bai, Shinya Sugiura Prof Rob Maunder, Lie-Liang Yang, Marco Di Renzo, Lajos Hanzo More details can be found at this link: https://lnkd.in/e5Keij8z

The Development of THz Band Functional Sheets Maxell exhibited development results of its “high-frequency functional sheets” in MWC Barcelona 2024. In a collaborative research project with Tokyo Institute of Technology, Maxell developed frequency filter radomes (antenna cover), transparent radio wave absorbers / radio wave reflectors targeting to be used in high-frequency range like GHz~300GHz. To contribute to the Beyond 5G/6G society, Maxell is applying its millimeter-wave radio wave absorber technology to various advanced sheets that can be functional in the range of submillimeter / THz waves. This research is a part of the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT)'s Beyond 5G R&D promotion project “Development of terahertz coherent transceivers utilizing micro-actuators” *Maxell, Ltd. announced today that it will exhibit the development results of its “high-frequency functional sheets” in MWC Barcelona 2024, Spain.* #RadioWave #Absorber #reflector #5G #6G #Transparent #FunctionalSheet #Radome #THz #GHz #MicroWave #5gtechnology #tech #techcommunity
