The 8th edition of 6G Waves Magazine, published by 6G Flagship programme, was released at the #6G Symposium, hosted by 6GWorld, 6G Flagship, and Business Finland. This special edition provides a retrospective of the 6G Flagship's journey, mapping its milestones and charting the future direction of 6G development. The Symposium has nearly 700 researchers and industry leaders participating, both in-person and virtually, to discuss the next steps in this pioneering field. As Professor Markku Juntti noted, "Reflecting on our journey, one might wonder: was it all just a stroke of foresight, or did we create the current landscape? Both are true." In her TEDxOulu talk, Professor Minna Isomursu challenged the traditional stereotypes of IT careers and called for a more inclusive digital future. Inspired by her grandmother’s compassion, Isomursu highlights the need for empathy and diversity in IT. Diversity in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), especially in IT, is critical for building technologies that are truly inclusive and user-centred. Isomursu offers key actions to improve gender balance: redesigning IT programmes, promoting female role models, and fostering inclusive workspaces.
