It is National Trustee week (you might have noticed.....) The evidence suggests that becoming a charity trustee offers numerous personal development benefits. Some of these include: Skill Development -Trusteeship provides opportunities to develop a wide range of skills, including leadership, strategic planning, financial management, and governance. These skills are clearly transferable and can enhance your professional profile; Networking - Serving as a trustee allows you to connect with a diverse group of people, including other trustees, charity staff, beneficiaries, and stakeholders. This can expand your professional network and open up new opportunities. For those who are seeking their next paid role, this has obvious benefits; Experience and Knowledge - Trustees gain valuable experience in the non-profit sector, learning about charity operations, legal obligations, and the specific issues the charity works to address. This knowledge too can be beneficial in both personal and professional contexts; Personal fulfilment - Many trustees that I speak with find the role personally rewarding since it allows them to contribute to a cause they care about, making a tangible difference in their community. Studies show that a sense of purpose can enhance overall well-being and satisfaction; Enhanced CV- Being a trustee is often seen as a prestigious role and this too can enhance your CV, demonstrating your commitment to social responsibility and your ability to handle significant responsibilities; and Problem-solving and decision-making - Trustees often face complex challenges that require innovative solutions and sound decision-making. This experience can sharpen problem-solving abilities and improve your confidence in making critical decisions. So, if any of the above sounds attractive then maybe you could consider giving your time to support a cause that matters to you by becoming a trustee? I can practically guarantee you won't regret it. #trustee #nationaltrusteeweek #community #personaldevelopment

Yesterday at our weekly online Zokit meeting we had a great discussion about ‘what we give back?’ We talked about the usual stuff like sponsorships and charity donations, but for me, when we talk about giving back, it’s not always about money. Looking out for each other – running a business can be stressful and sometimes quite lonely. We often get wrapped up in daily grind and it can go days, weeks or even months without hearing from each other. It’s so important to be aware of what other people may have going on, checking in if they are quieter than normal and offering each other help and support. I’m so grateful of my business buddies. Investing in young people – We are passionate about getting more young people into financial services and training them up to be mortgage administrators and advisors. We are committed to giving young people a chance and opportunity to learn and develop. We offer work experience, part time jobs, internships and eventually hope to have our own training programme. Young people are our future 🧡 What will you be giving back?

5 things to add to your resume to appeal to nonprofit organizations Are you planning to work for a non-profit organization? Then, your #resume must feature skills, qualifications, and activities that non-profit employers value. Here are some things to add to your #resume: 1. Volunteer work Highlighting your previous volunteer work, even if it was for a different kind of charity, will help you appeal to non-profit employers. 2. Fundraising experience Non-profits rely heavily on fundraising projects. Any experience you have with organizing fundraisers must be emphasized on your #resume. 3. Project management skills Highlight your ability to navigate tight budgets, and plan and execute events on your #resume. If you have undertaken any charity projects before, add them to your resume as well. 4. Grant writing experience If you have grant writing experience, mention that on your #resume. Strong business writing skills too would be a great item to display on your resume. 5. Passion for the cause Most importantly, highlight activities that emphasize your passion for giving back to the community.
