Celebrated Swedish Nobel Day on the 10th of December onboard a tractor to inspect the Ghaf tree planting site. I enjoyed viewing the fields, date palm trees, and Ghaf high-up. I prepared to welcome a group from Marsh. It was perfect December weather to dig into the ground to plant baby Ghafs 15 months old. Everyone got excited about using shovels, getting their hands a little dirty feeling the soil, and mixing it with fertilizer when placing the Ghaf in the holes they prepared. Sprinkling some water on top and giving the trees names. Watch out for the yellow to green flowers from March to May or October to January. After resting and drinking water to stay hydrated they were ready for a tour of The Emirates Soil Museum. I gave insight into soil texture a classification instrument used in the field and laboratory to determine soil classes based on their physical texture. Soil texture such as loam, sandy loam, or clay refers to the proportion of sand, silt, and clay-sized particles that make up the mineral fraction of the soil. They got to touch sand, silt, and clay material to feel the different grain sizes of the particles. Thank you Companies for Good & Amal Safadi for bringing the group. #Ghaf #TheEmiratesSoilMuseum #ICBA
