Effective June 6, 2024, Washington law prohibits employers from threatening to or disciplining, discharging or otherwise penalizing or taking adverse action against an employee for refusing to attend an employer-sponsored meeting or listen to employer communications that have the primary purpose of conveying the employer's opinions concerning religious or political matters. The law defines political matters to include those relating to labor organizations, including the decision to join or support a union. Stay informed and ensure your workplace practices comply with these new regulations. #EmployeeRights #WashingtonLaw #WorkplaceFairness #HRCompliance #LaborRights https://buff.ly/4b8q6s4

This will be an interesting one to follow. Whistleblowing, social media and gifts. What policies do you have in place for social media use and gifts on the bribery act. If someone was to do something in social media would it damage your business. Social media policies and training is becoming a key talking point within employment law and with more youngsters joining the workforce it needs setting out clearly from day one. To sum this up I saw a real statement in a fire policy. IN CASE OF FIRE PLEASE EXIT BUILDING SAFELY BEFORE TWEETING ABOUT IT 🙈🙈 #law #hr #employmentlaw #business #loapr24

In California, the law protects employees from being disciplined or terminated based on their political beliefs. Labor Code sections 1101 and 1102 make it clear: political views are off-limits when it comes to employment decisions. Stay informed and compliant—keeping personal politics out of business is the way to protect your team and your company. #politics #californialaw #employmentlaw #knowtherules #electionseason #employeeprotection #wrongfultermination #trump #harris #employee #businesslaw

My latest piece with Dylan Holmes. We link the history of hybrid doctrinal approaches to protecting workers, dating to the Nat'l Industrial Recovery Act, with current antitrust & consumer law uses in the workplace. Turns out that rules like the FTC's non-compete ban aren't unprecedented.
In the Expert Forum, Jonathan F. Harris and Dylan Holmes explain how an integrated work law that recognizes workers’ stacked identities can provide innovative ways to protect workers. https://lnkd.in/er3TEziu
