In California, the law protects employees from being disciplined or terminated based on their political beliefs. Labor Code sections 1101 and 1102 make it clear: political views are off-limits when it comes to employment decisions. Stay informed and compliant—keeping personal politics out of business is the way to protect your team and your company. #politics #californialaw #employmentlaw #knowtherules #electionseason #employeeprotection #wrongfultermination #trump #harris #employee #businesslaw

With the election creeping upon us, and with the geopolitical state of the world in ever increasing chaos, my clients are frequently coming to me and asking questions about how to address situations where one employee is espousing certain political views inside or outside the workplace that co-workers take issue with. Sometimes this situation become quite tense, and often results in verbal or physical altercations. Dealing with these situations is dicey and fraught with risk. My Littler colleagues Bradford Kelley and James McGehee discuss the potential risks for employers when employees use social media for political purposes. #employmentlaw (subscription required) via Law360
