How far away do you think we are from AGI? Will AI models replace software? How did we get to this moment, is it all hype? What AI opportunities are people not talking about right now, that are genuinely exciting? How should startup founders navigate the future? What is Australia's role in all of this? These are just some of the questions I'm thinking about throwing at Anton van den Hengel next week when we jump on stage for _SOUTHSTART. There are few better people in Australia to hear from on the topic of AI than Anton, so make time to listen in. It's going to be packed full of info. What else should I ask him? Let me know below! If you can't make it I'll pass his answer onto you. Also, if you'd like to catch up while I'm in town and chat about your startup or about AI, drop me a comment below and I'll get in touch.

Q - How will we know when we have achieved AGI? Other then having a model with Multi-Domain Expertise. What will be the signs thats we've 'done it' 🚀

With flatlining national productivity, is Gen AI the silver bullet to drive labour productivity gains in our heavily service based economy? Or are we better off focusing policy and investment into applications of the technology to develop net new innovations for the world (a much smaller % of our economy but arguably larger ROI if successful)? (I've just finished reading the latest productivity commission report for context) :)

AI Models are simply going to enable a future where software is generated, not developed. This will result in execution timeframes decreasing to minutes to hours compared to weeks and months today. The real challenge will be how do humans interface with those models to instruct them what to create. AGI is already here in some respects... now it's about capability.

Casey, I'd really value 15 mins of your time to ask a couple of questions relevant to a new service we're exploring for VCs.
