When I teach executive presentation skills to clients, one of the lessons I try to convey is that their presentations are more boring than they think. Seriously. Watch most corporate presentations. They're snoozers! 💤 We then talk about ways to improve them. Terri Sjodin joined us in episode 414 to talk about her book Presentation Ready. Her extensive research identifies the top reasons why presentations go wrong, and her book explains how to avoid those. Check out this snippet from the discussion with Terri. Then queue up episode 414 of the People and Projects Podcast to learn more. She shares some practical ideas that will help you with that presentation you have coming up! #projectmanagement #hapmo #management #leadership #pmo #presentationskills #freePDUs #PDU

Presentation skills are something I am seeking to improve on. My strengths lie in live conversation, and presenting is just a whole different feel. Any tips on how to make things not so boring?

This works both ways. Sometimes you deliver a presentation and think it was mediocre at best, but the feedback afterwards is extremely positive. In that case, I chalk it up to either a) me being my own worst critic or b) the audience has had to put up with some pretty poor presenters in the past and, by comparison, my presentation was better!

Great podcast. One thing I am reminded of, is to put a suit on during a speech delivery at my local TM club. It does change your mindset. Thanks Andy Kaufman as always.
