🐣 The Easter long weekend is coming up and with any long weekend, promises to be a great period of trade for hospitality. Yet, train strikes, tube closures, and wet weather threaten to put a damper on festivities and restrict footfall. 🧐 So, how can you prepare to maximise your opportunities this long weekend? The team at Brigad UK put our heads together and came up with a few ideas: • Create an offer/ discount deal to provide more incentive for people to brave the rain and venture out. • Change or extend your opening hours over the long weekend. • Invest in umbrellas and blankets to keep people warm and dry outside and maximise seating. • Develop your takeaway and delivery options. • Avoid scheduling a whole roster of staff, but instead use platforms like Brigad to find staff on short notice for busy periods. 💡 Any other suggestions? Share them with our community in the comments! 📩 #easter #longweekend #bankholiday #hospitalitylondon #londoncafes #londonpubs #londonrestaurants

MEET RORY… 🐝 As the founder of Bee, Rory Laffan has been leading the way for over 20 years. The friendliest man in the industry, he has built great, genuine relationships with both people and brands. Rory is obsessed with food and even launched his own pizza business, Fired Up, which operates at some of the best summer festivals in the UK. Understanding the challenges of running a business firsthand, Rory is dedicated to easing his clients' lives with smart introductions and long-lasting connections. Rory has recently set up Punt & Dine - an extravaganza of a day in Cambridge primarily for people within hospitality. Join him on Wednesday 10th July for a slap up meal at Jesus College and a punt down the River Cam. Proceeds go to charities that mean a lot to Rory: Only A Pavement Away , Wintercomfort for the Homeless and Arthur Rank Hospice. DM us to get your tickets. In the meantime, here are Rory’s top tips for London: 🍴 Favourite restaurant? This is a tough one because I have a few favourites, but I absolutely LOVE Manteca. It's always buzzing, the food is delicious, and you don’t need to spend a lot to have a great meal. Recently, I was also blown away by the flavours at Kolae. 🍺 Favourite pub? Okay, so it's not exactly a pub, but it has that vibe and is my go-to spot for an after-work beer before I jump on the train home: The Double Standard next to our office in Kings Cross. 🔥 Place you're desperate to try? There are so many, but if I had to choose one, it would be The Ledbury. I've only ever heard amazing things about it, and I would love to experience it myself. Also, Crisp Pizza—I'm obsessed with pizza, and these guys are killing it. 🔮 What opening are you most excited about in London? I really want to try Roe because some of their dishes look incredibly clever. Also, I’m excited for when my friend Liam opens Marceline in Canary Wharf. I know how much love is going into everything, so I can't wait to see it and get down there. #beehospitality #recruitment #London #hospitality

Christmas Markets by rail. Special £2 rail fares offered by Northern. Northern have worked with tourism bosses in #Harrogate and #Skipton to create a £2 rail fare [like the £2 bus fare] for those visiting the Christmas markets. #Barnsley has a Christmas Market at the Glassworks but I am not hearing that there will be a similar promotion. Northern was targeting less crowded markets in towns for the promotion and so perhaps there is still time for officers at Travel South Yorkshire, South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority or Barnsley Council to do a deal, as Barnsley's rail station is really close to the #Glassworks. The promotion is here: 👇 https://lnkd.in/esuS2Gxp The details of Barnsley's Christmas market is here: 👇 https://lnkd.in/ej_JBRHW Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber of Commerce Carrie Sudbury Sarah Norman #️⃣ Barnsleyisbrill #christmas #christmasmarket #northernrail #barnsleytransport #barnsleybusiness #barnsleymarket

To support our struggling hospitality sector, we need to rethink our public holiday loadings. A staggering 250% loading is making it difficult for business owners to keep their doors open on prime trading days. Today, my family and I attempted to have lunch in our local seaside region, but the first four places we tried were closed. Even the famous Port Elliot bakery, which has lineups daily, was closed. It's understandable that businesses can't justify the high costs of operating on these days. They are still paying high rents for their spaces, but they are unable to keep their doors open due to the high operating costs. It's a lose-lose situation for everyone involved. The business owners are under too much pressure, and the employees don't get shifts. We need to change this. We are killing our SME economy. A lower public holiday loading would be a great start. Let's work together to find a solution that benefits everyone involved. #savehospitality #publicholiday #smebusiness #smesupport

Memorial Day is just around the corner, and many craft breweries are gearing up for exciting outdoor events. While these gatherings are a fantastic way to engage with your community and celebrate the holiday, it's crucial to manage potential risks effectively. Here are some key tips to ensure your event is safe and successful: 1. **Weather Contingency Plans:** - Keep a close eye on the weather forecast. - Have a plan in place for rain or severe weather, including tents or indoor alternatives. 2. **Permits and Regulations:** - Ensure all necessary permits are secured for outdoor alcohol service and live music. - Familiarize yourself with local regulations to avoid any legal issues. 3. **Security Measures:** - Hire professional security personnel to manage the crowd and handle any issues. - Set up clear entry and exit points to monitor attendee flow. 4. **Safety Protocols:** - Provide ample lighting for evening events. - Clearly mark emergency exits and have first aid stations readily accessible. 5. **Alcohol Management:** - Train staff to recognize signs of intoxication and handle them appropriately. - Offer non-alcoholic beverages and encourage responsible drinking. 6. **Sanitation and Cleanliness:** - Ensure restrooms are clean and well-stocked throughout the event. - Regularly sanitize high-touch areas and provide hand sanitizing stations. 7. **Parking and Transportation:** - Organize parking to avoid congestion and ensure emergency vehicles have clear access. - Consider partnering with local ride-sharing services to promote safe transportation. By taking these precautions, you can create a memorable and enjoyable experience for your guests while safeguarding your business. Happy Memorial Day! 🇺🇸 🍻 #CraftBrewery #RiskManagement #MemorialDay #OutdoorEvents #SafetyFirst #CommunityEngagement
