In Detroit today for the NASEO - National Association of State Energy Officials and AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) EV Charging Infrastructure conference. Will be talking about how state energy and transportation officials can stretch their NEVI funding and how the FHWA and US DOT can help them do that. Come see Sejal Shah, and Cathleen Lewis and I talk about that and other issues on our panel. What could be more exciting than talking about utility crossings and rights of way on a Tuesday afternoon? Correct Answer: nothing.

Excited to talk about EVs and the grid today. how do we prepare? how do we capitalize on the storage potential? how do we do it all at the same time

EU and Germany energy and economic woes >>> At one point, Germany was the most 'solarized country in Europe despite its latitude and weather. For another time, I'd like to share with you how the German engineers designed their systems based on medieval architectural planning. The only way I'm able to conceptualize our various systems coming to full-scale fruition is as decades-spanning projects involving what Karen has called public private sector partnerships. The only infrastructure projects and programs comparable in scale, scope, cooperation and costs would national highway systems, public (and private) utilities, the U.S.TVA, BPA (both vast utility and infrastructure construction programs costing upwards of $300B in today's money), Holland's centuries long reclamation programs, the Chunnel ($20+B) Los Angeles Metropolitan Water District storm drainage system (in today's money upwards of $100B et al. There are growing instances of energy rate 'wars' and litigation around competing requirements: server farms, agriculture, industry, urban regions and there will be an expanding demand for energy intensive systems for desal and water reclamation. Just looking at the EU energy woes, environmentalist vs industry views of decarbonization, ongoing contention over 'accurate' LCOE methods, political misjudgements, national and regional jurisdictional issues with intermittent sustainable, not to speak of computing generation technologies, potential re-nuclearization, SMRs, SNRs etc etc. just gives me a migraine.

As energy efficiency becomes a priority in commercial buildings, facility teams and engineers are increasingly turning toward solutions like dual fuel heat pump rooftop units (RTUs) equipped with energy recovery ventilators (ERVs). But misconceptions about ERVs, from how they perform in Minnesota’s cold climates to their maintenance needs, can make some hesitant to take the leap. In our newest blog post, CEE's Daniel Raherimanjato (pictured, left) dispels some of the myths surrounding ERVs in commercial buildings: https://hubs.ly/Q02ZdmFw0

Great informative op ed on all the variables to consider when going the carrot (incentives) or the stick (fines / penalties) route to support fuel switching. Excellent 3 min read where Aaron Graben and Belinda Gilbey draw on lessons learned in other jurisdictions. BONDI Energy
