" #NIRF Rankings": A Legitimate Consideration for Institute Admissions? It's been two days since the #NIRF rankings was released and you as a student might be perplexed regarding whether to consider this ranking or not. As the admission season approaches, students and professionals alike are faced with a crucial decision: choosing the right #institute for their #academic and #professional pursuits. One widely-used metric for evaluating institutes is the #NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) ranking. But is it truly legit to consider #NIRF rankings before getting admission? Pros of considering NIRF rankings: 1. *Standardized evaluation*: NIRF provides a comprehensive and standardized framework for assessing institutes across India. 2. *Multi-parameter assessment*: NIRF evaluates #institutes based on various parameters like #teaching, #research, #graduation outcomes, and more. 3. *Government-recognized*: #NIRF is recognized by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, lending credibility to its rankings. Cons of considering NIRF rankings: 1. *Overemphasis on rankings*: Relying solely on NIRF rankings might lead to overlooking other crucial factors like program curriculum, faculty expertise, and campus culture. 2. *Methodological limitations*: NIRF's methodology has faced criticism for its reliance on self-reported data and limited weightage to important parameters like research quality. 3. *Yearly fluctuations*: NIRF rankings can fluctuate significantly from year to year, making it challenging to rely on a single year's ranking. The verdict: While #NIRF rankings can provide valuable insights, it's essential to consider them as just one factor in your decision-making process. Don't overlook other critical aspects like: - Program alignment with your goals - #Faculty expertise and industry connections - #Campus culture and support services - #Alumni network and #placement statistics Ultimately, a holistic approach will help you make an informed decision about the institute that best fits your needs. Share your thoughts! How much weightage do you give to NIRF rankings when choosing an institute? #research #highereducation #engineering #medical #science #nirf #ranking

In 2023, it secured the 34th position overall and 27th in research in the rankings by the National Institutional Ranking Framework under the Ministry of Education. Admission to IISERs will exclusively be through the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT), which is a computer-based test scheduled on Sunday, June 09, 2024 at 9:00 AM, at various centres across the country. students can find details on the IISER admissions portal-https://lnkd.in/gimzEc-m Starting in 2024, IIT-JEE scores will no longer be a factor in the admissions process to IISERs, as part of efforts to streamline the process. Professor Bhagwat highlighted the popularity of IISER’s BS+MS five-year degree program, aligned with the National Education Policy, as a preferred option for science enthusiasts. IISER-Pune stands out as one of the top science institutions in India. In 2023, it secured the 34th position overall and 27th in research in the rankings by the National Institutional Ranking Framework under the Ministry of Education. By combining cutting-edge basic science research with top-notch instruction, the Indian Institutes for Science Education and Research (IISERs) have become a favourite choice for students aspiring to pursue careers in academia and scientific research. He encouraged all eligible candidates with a strong interest in science to apply for the 1,800-2,000 available spots across the seven IISERs in the country.
