From the very start, coworking spaces have been filling a critical gap in our social infrastructure: where do people go when they're stuck working from home and in desperate need of human connection? While the movement of coworking has grown exponentially over the past 19 years, the story of coworking's impact hasn't been told nearly well enough. As I've discovered through my work on the Belongfulness Project, social isolation runs rampant across so many demographics—not just remote workers. And the health effects are serious. It's a real health crisis. So, for this event, I bring together space owners and community leaders to consider the question: how can these spaces better claim their identity as one of the key solutions to this major societal issue? In this event, we discuss: 1. The nature of the isolation crisis 2. The role coworking spaces are already playing 3. The next steps space owners can take to do more 4. The impact we can achieve collectively 5. Examples of actual programs run by the event's participants 6.
