I am a simple surgeon. I don’t often change my settings and I have hardly ever changed phaco machines. So I asked Erik Mertens an important question of whether I need to learn and understand more about fluidics to get the most out of the new Sophi phaco machine with all its options. Hi Ben. I trialled the Sophi back in 2019. It was kind of a beta version back then. Do you know what changes have been made since? Cheers Graham

I change my phaco machines a lot over the week. I’m a single week I use Oertli, Constellation, Centurion, Infiniti, Signature Pro and the Intuitiv. Because of high volume surgery, though I am well aware of my settings, I cannot change them consistently every time. I often just check the chamber fluidics during the initial stages of surgery and then continue the rest of the surgery. Which works.
