✨ 👫 Embracing Wellness: The Rise of Men in Sound Healing 👫 ✨ I've recently concluded another visit at Six Senses Fiji, and as a Visiting Practitioner at Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas, I've observed an intriguing trend: more men are participating in my sound healing sessions. On my last day at Fiji, 3 out of 5 guests were men. 📈 Traditionally, fewer men have sought spa and wellness treatments compared to women, often due to societal norms and stigmas around self-care. However, the tides are changing, and it's heartening to witness men discovering the profound benefits of sound healing. It's essential to recognize that wellness is universal. The benefits of treatments like sound healing transcend gender, offering profound impacts on stress relief, emotional balance, and overall well-being. In my sessions, men (and women) sometimes find themselves moved to tears, breaking down barriers and embracing vulnerability. It's important to reassure that such emotional releases are not only okay but incredibly healing. Wellness and self-care transcend gender—it's about human well-being at its core. Wellness is a journey for all, and it's encouraging to see more men taking these steps. (Although some men came because their wives made the booking for them! 😁 ) I'm curious to hear from male spa-goers and wellness professionals: What has your experience been with spa treatments? How can we further bridge the gender gap in wellness? Men, it’s time to embrace your wellness journey. It’s okay to relax, to cry, and to heal. Join me next at Six Senses Kaplankaya in August & September and experience the profound benefits of sound healing. #wellness #menshealth #outoftheordinary #soundhealing #inclusivehealth #sixsenses #emotionalwellbeing #mentalhealth #spa For more insights on the evolving trends in wellness, check out the latest report from the Global Wellness Summit, which highlights the growing focus on emotional and social wellness for men: https://lnkd.in/gSu9HS42

New study uncovers hidden wellness market segments A new study, The WELLSurvey, identifies four untapped wellness market segments among 88 million US households. These segments reflect distinct wellness habits, interests, and lifestyle profiles. The study, authored by Kevin Kelly and Dr. Peter Yesawich, highlights the confusion between 'wellness' and 'wellbeing,' with consumers associating wellness with tangible activities and wellbeing with emotional benefits. The findings offer significant opportunities for industry providers to develop new products and services. Plans are underway to extend the survey to Europe. Read more below.

This topic is something I identified with very quickly when completing my integrative therapy diploma level 4 in Australia many moons ago, and then discovering employment challenges when returning to the UK because I wasn't a beauty/spa therapist. Back then, (2007) 😲 'wellness' wasn't a thing. Unless you were in a top level destination property with innovative, worldly Spa Directors leading the way. And yet today, we are at the other extreme. 'Wellness wellness wellness' is all I hear about. The question is, are we upskilling our beauty/spa therapists to fully appreciate and understand what this word really means? and Vice versa...Are we giving our holistic health therapists the commercial/operational skills they need to fully understand the spa business? 🩵🤍
Wellness vs Spa: Another video snippet from our Spa Life International UK Therapist Talk Back Session. Plus here's a bit more around our thoughts on this topic: In today’s fast-paced world, the terms "spa" and "wellness" are often used interchangeably, leading to a significant disconnect between these two concepts. As Susie Ellis, the chair and CEO of the Global Wellness Institute, emphasises; while spas offer components of wellness, true wellness encompasses a far more extensive range of practices and philosophies. This of course has an impact for our spa therapists, because wellness is a broader and more holistic concept. A wellness therapist, as noted by the National Wellness Institute, aims to educate and empower clients to make long-term lifestyle changes that promote overall health and wellbeing. Let’s stay with this for a moment and consider this role further. These practitioners, often referred to as wellness coaches or holistic health practitioners, take a more comprehensive approach. They are trained in various disciplines such as nutrition, fitness, sound healing, energy healing, stress management, and behavioural therapy. Plus in pursuit of those health goals a wellness therapist may work with clients over longer periods. So, if our guests are seeking those longer-term health benefits associated with the wellness approach, we must ask: Are our spa therapists ready, willing and able to step into the role of wellness therapist in order to deliver a truly authentic wellness programme? Is this an opportunity to upskill or attract new specialised talent? How does this affect the way in which we run the spa and what should the guest journey look like? What are your thoughts on this? We'd love to know. Carly and Julie Sara with Rosie Langlay-Smith #spamanager #spajourney #spatherapist #spa #wellness #upskilling #talentattraction
