𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒊 Martini is a classic cocktail made with gin and vermouth, typically garnished with an olive or a twist of lemon. The exact origins of the martini are a bit debated, but it's believed to have evolved from a drink called the Martinez, which was popular in the 19th century. Over time, the martini became a symbol of sophistication and class, especially with the iconic "shaken, not stirred" line popularized by James Bond. It's a timeless drink that has definitely made its mark in cocktail culture! The olive garnish in a martini is said to have originated during the Prohibition era in the United States? Bartenders would add olives to mask the smell of alcohol in the cocktail, so customers could discreetly enjoy their drinks without drawing too much attention to the fact that they were consuming alcohol. It's a quirky little piece of history tied to this iconic cocktail! There are several famous variations of the classic martini. One popular variation is the "Vodka Martini," which substitutes gin with vodka. Another well-known variation is the "Dirty Martini," which includes olive brine or olive juice, giving the cocktail a slightly salty flavor. Additionally, the "Gibson Martini" is garnished with a pickled onion instead of an olive or lemon twist. 𝐈𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 2 oz London Dry Gin ¼ - ½ oz Dry Vermouth 2 Dashes Orange Bitters (Optional) 3 Olives 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 Add cold, large cube ice to a stirring glass Add the gin, vermouth and bitters Stir for at least 20 seconds Strain into a chilled cocktail coupe or martini glass Garnish with 3 olives on a pick

We love cocktails, but there are so many out there that, sometimes, it's hard to keep up. To make things a little more digestible for you, Here are the main styles you'll usually come across: ▪️ Highballs. Simple and refreshing, these are made by mixing a base spirit with a larger proportion of a non-alcoholic mixer. Gin & tonics and mojitos are two popular highball cocktail examples. ▪️ Lowballs/old fashioneds. These spirit-forward cocktails highlight the base spirit, often with a touch of sugar, bitters, and a citrus twist. Little or no mixer is used. The old fashioned and the sazerac are two examples of this style. ▪️ Sours. These cocktails deliver a balance of sweet and sour flavours, using a base spirit, lemon or lime juice, and a sweetener. Examples include the whiskey sour and the margarita. ▪️ Martinis. These elegant, strong cocktails are typically made with gin or vodka and vermouth, garnished with an olive or a lemon twist. The classic martini is the best example of this, although non-traditional versions such as the appletini and the espresso martini have grown in popularity over the years. ▪️ Tiki cocktails. Exotic and fruity, tiki cocktails often feature and mix of rum and tropical juices, topped with extravagant garnishes. The piña colada is arguably the quintessential tiki cocktail. ▪️ Fizzes. These light and frothy cocktails mix a base spirit with citrus, sugar, and sparkling water, often with an egg white for a creamy texture. The best know fizz cocktail is probably the gin fizz. Cheers to exploring new flavours and finding your favourite cocktail! 🍹

Vodka, The Timeless Spirit In the world of spirits, trends come and go, but some classics stand the test of time. Vodka is one such spirit. Often overshadowed by the more trendy gins and whiskeys of recent years, vodka remains a versatile and beloved staple in both casual and sophisticated drinking cultures. One of vodka's greatest strengths is its versatility. Unlike many other spirits, vodka is designed to be neutral in flavor, allowing it to blend seamlessly with a wide variety of ingredients. Whether you're mixing up a classic cocktail like a Bloody Mary or a Cosmopolitan, or experimenting with new, innovative concoctions, vodka provides a perfect base that enhances other flavors without overpowering them. From small artisanal distilleries to established brands, there is a renewed focus on craftsmanship and quality. High-end vodkas now emphasize unique distillation processes and premium ingredients, resulting in spirits that are smooth, refined, and often enjoyed neat or on the rocks. This emphasis on quality has helped vodka regain respect among connoisseurs and casual drinkers alike. Beyond the bar, vodka has made a name for itself in the culinary world. Chefs use it in recipes to enhance flavors without adding unwanted tastes. From vodka sauces to decadent desserts, this spirit is a secret weapon in the kitchen. Its ability to extract flavors makes it a popular choice for infusions, providing a creative way to add a unique twist to dishes and drinks alike. As we continue to see the evolution of the spirits industry, it's clear that vodka remains an essential and enduring part of the landscape. Its versatility, quality, and universal appeal ensure that vodka will never be counted out.
