We contact construction businesses on a weekly basis to help our learners into work. We've trained 88 CSCS card holders this year alone. Ranging from 18 year old new learners to experienced trades, we help those people obtain, pay for and utilize green CSCS labourers cards. In all honesty, most construction employers aren't forthcoming when I contact them about our learners. We think one of the reasons for this is that the employers that could benefit most from us are the smaller ones and they're busy on-site rather than having time for recruitment. There must be a way that we can help signpost more learners into work if we can find a way to communicate at the right time, in the right way, with the right people. From apprenticeships to skilled labourers, if you're looking for help in the construction industry please consider ANTA Education Ltd and all the job seekers we're seeing on a weekly basis that could help your business. #construction #cscs #employment #opportunities

The teams hard work is paying off! hats off to Stuart Elliott, Chris Lee, Nick Cook (and me) 💪👍 When we start to look at some of the information being shared across the industry, for example: 'UK Trade Skills Index'... 24400 apprentices needed to qualify every year to meet demand, with a huge percentage being plasterers. 'Google - most searched apprenticeship programs'... Plastering being 6th in the list at a figure of 12200. Sounds great, but compare that to say Electrician, at a figure of 223500, its significantly less. 'Trades People Survey'... in 2022 trades experienced shortfalls across the board, and what was no.1.. Plastering, falling short by 93%. Traditional plastering will always be needed without question, but the struggle is real when it comes to the newer generation taking up the trade... how do we solve this?! a newer, modern method of application, something thats easier to install, a method thats kinder on the body, less tuition time needed to perfect, a more sustainable option... these are the things we're thinking about here at Knauf UK & Ireland. It's great this is over the line, and I take pride in seeing its growth, not just for me but for the industry. #modernmethodsofconstruction #airlessfinish #plastering #qualification #compentancy #level5finish #citb CITB

This is Education Week and in Alberta ACA has advocated for skilled trades being taught at all levels to help offer a path to higher education through apprenticeship programs to meet the needs for our workforce. BuildForce predicts despite a younger population, Alberta’s construction industry will need to recruit about 63,100 additional workers over the forecast period to keep pace with labour force growth and replace approximately 42,500 retiring workers, or 23% of the current labour force. Many of these hiring requirements may be met by an estimated 41,100 first-time new entrants under the age of 30 from the local population, leaving a gap of about 22,000 workers that will need to be recruited from outside the local construction labour force. Here are 5 initiatives I’d place my bets on: Expanding training and apprenticeship programs Enhancing work conditions and benefits Adopting innovative technologies Automating repetitive tasks Rebranding the construction industry as a dynamic and rewarding career pathWhat other strategies can we implement to bridge the labor gap and boost project efficiency? Let's share ideas in the comments! https://lnkd.in/eMJsTF7j

The Labour Party have been terrible since getting into power, but this one initiative I can get behind: Five thousand more construction apprenticeship places will be made available due to a £140 million industry investment to get Britain building again. The government aims to bring 32 new Homebuilding Skills Hubs to deliver fast-track training to areas in need of housing, and give apprentices skills to boost housebuilding. The hubs will offer realistic working environments for training for trades including bricklayers, roofers, plasterers, scaffolders, electricians, carpenters and more. The government is working with the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and the National House-Building Council (NHBC) to launch the hubs, in tandem with Skills England to identify the areas that need construction workers the most. The builders' merchants sector, like the construction industry overall, has a recruitment challenge. However, the Construction Industry Training Board estimates that 225,000 workers will be needed by 2027 to meet industry demand, meaning action is needed urgently. MKM believes that all apprentices deserve the job security that a permanent contract of employment provides. MKM only brings in an apprentice to fill a gap in its business where there is a long-term vacancy, not just a role that could last 18 months. 32 so-called Homebuilding Skills Hubs will be created across the country, with places most in need of new houses prioritised. The government, which is working on the plan alongside the Construction Industry Training Board and the National House-Building Council, has pledged £140m to create the hubs, which will all be operational by 2028. It will mean that 5,000 more construction apprenticeship places will be made available every year. The announcement is a recognition of the lack of skilled workers in the construction industry that threatens to undermine Labour’s target of 1.5m homes over the next five years. 𝗨𝗞 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻’𝘀 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗯𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲. According to CPA economists. Over the past five years, UK construction has lost an average of 70,000 workers a year. At the same time, apprenticeship starts have averaged 31,000 per year in the last five years, with a dropout rate of 40%. That means every year has seen a net loss of 50,000 people from the labour pool. The moral of the story.......if you are looking to start your working career, construction is a great place to start!!! Do you agree? The construction sector is facing a skills shortage, both lacking the skilled workforce to deliver the new homes planned across the UK and also specific expertise in key areas like sustainability, modern methods of construction and technology. As the UK Government’s Timber in Construction Policy Roadmap identified - the shortage of skills is a barrier to the increased use of structural timber in construction. To attract new talent to the industry and continue to develop our existing workforce it is vital we invest in training. In recognition of this, the Structural Timber Association Ltd recently launched a new Skills Hub and Installer Training Scheme aiming to equip the construction workforce with the skills needed to help deliver on timber's potential to contribute to a more sustainable built environment.
