Australian Energy Producers’ Post

Natural gas will continue playing a critical role in Australia’s energy security in a net zero economy to 2050 and beyond, with the Australian Government’s Future Gas Strategy highlighting that continued investment in new gas supply is needed. The Strategy makes clear the importance of gas in the future energy mix, stating that “Under all credible net zero scenarios, natural gas is needed through to 2050 and beyond... Gas will be essential to the transition because our energy system needs gas to achieve net zero”. 🔗 Read our media release: https://lnkd.in/gVBJ8P8r #FutureGasStrategy

Thus proving how deeply flawed the political process is in this country. With 75 percent of the people saying that they want action on climate change, and yet the two major parties are still wholly owned by the fossil fuel industry. Which means that the only way we can get change in this country is to vote for minor parties who are committed to action on climate change. Never forget that, before the last federal election, the coalition was given 1.2 million dollars by the fossil fuel industry, and the Labor party was given 800,000. And that is only the declared donations and does not touch the "black money" and various astroturf organisations.

Methane is 80x more potent than CO2 as a greenhouse gas, and is holding up the renewable transition. To avoid the worst impacts of climate change, we must switch from gas to renewables now.

Australian Energy Producers Unless gas is used in combined power cycle, the emissions reduction compared to coal is estimated to be @ 30 to 40% less; whereas coal molecule on heat equivalent basis is about one third the price of gas. Coal industry can easily lift its game. Only a year or two ago Aussie pollies were riding high on the Hydrogen horse. They shouldn't play favorites but provide level field and that would only come from taxing emissions. Australians need cheap energy to bring back manufacturing otherwise confused pollies will be wasting time of every body.

where is all the money coming from to install electric appliances in the millions of restaurants. And all the extra power required to run them

It's worth considering an alternative view of the future of #methane gas in Australia. There are fundamental flaws in the government's policy which are highlighted in this myth-busting exercise. #getoffgas https://switchedon.reneweconomy.com.au/content/myth-busting-ieefa-debunks-the-basis-of-the-governments-gas-strategy

But has will lose anyway! Too expensive. We need to ensure fossil gas companies testing funds to clean up stranded assets.

At last they wake up..It is common sense and of paramount importance to pave the transition road towards the renewables from here to 2050.
