We often say decent work! What is 'decent work?' According to experts, decent work must meet four criteria: 1) adequate compensation and health care, 2) safe and secure working conditions, 3) working hours that allow for free time, and 4) organizational values that complement family and social values (Duffy et al., 2017; ILO, 2008). Is there a decline in decent work? #Career Development, #career management, #work #work-life balance

The Right to Switch Off 👍 With work increasingly blending into personal lives, the "Right to Switch Off" has become a hot topic. The UK Governments new proposed initiative aims to give employees the ability to disconnect from work outside official hours without repercussions. Balancing work-life has always been tricky. In the UK, research by the CIPD showed that over half of employees find it hard to completely switch off from work. 📊 This right isn't just about avoiding burnout; it's also about respecting personal time and boosting productivity when on duty. Organisations that support this can see happier, more engaged teams. What are your thoughts on the right to disconnect? Have you seen benefits in your workplace? Is This a Healthy Work Environment? 🤔 It's disheartening to see companies exploiting highly qualified professionals by offering low salaries. While cost-cutting is a reality, undervaluing skilled workers is unethical and unsustainable. A healthy work environment should prioritize: #Fair Compensation: Employees deserve fair pay for their skills and experience. #Respectful Treatment: A positive, supportive work culture is essential. #Ethical Practices: Avoiding exploitation of workers, especially vulnerable populations. #Work-Life Balance: Promoting a healthy balance between work and personal life. #Professional Development: Providing opportunities for growth and advancement. #workplaceethics #jobmarket #faircompensation #worklifebalance #professionaldevelopment

🌄 Taking a moment to pause and reflect in the middle of nowhere, California. This year has been a challenging journey, both personally and professionally. It’s created exceptional opportunities for growth on all levels, though it was grueling. Sometimes, you need to make the executive call to step away and shut off work for a bit, even just a few days. It’s a good reminder that work will always be there, but you can’t give 100% to others if you aren’t 100% yourself. Recharging in the high eastern Sierras gave me the clarity and energy to return stronger for 2025. Here’s to prioritizing self-care and recognizing the importance of balance… Or at least improving our juggling skills. #selfcare #recharge #HR #naturetherapy #professionalgrowth

Burnout deserves to be fought - hard. Work should trigger some degree of enjoyment, and pride in accomplishment, not poor mental health and a stress rash. We have to approach workload management differently. Gallup's 2024 State of the Global Workplace Report, identifies that almost 50% of Canadian and American workers are stressed at work. We all know that the stress response associated with consistently having too much to do isn't going to be negated by lunchtime Zumba classes or casual Fridays. This is not an insurmountable problem - we need to define 'productivity' better. Cal Newport is a professor and author whose work explores systems, work culture and technology. Cal is a vocal proponent of 'Deep Work' and 'Slow Productivity' as real solutions to burnout, employee engagement and actual productivity (the effective completion of tasks as opposed to merely the totality of tasks). 'How' we work needs intention and reinvention. #Productivity #SlowProductivity #DeepWork #Burnout #Wellbeing https://lnkd.in/gFYZXr-g

Dear HR, We often talk about mental peace, women empowerment, and flexible working hours, but what do these terms truly mean? The standard working hours are supposed to be 8 hours, yet under the guise of flexibility, many of us are working more than 12 hours. When someone questions this, we tend to hide behind the idea of "flexibility." True flexibility should empower employees to manage their time effectively, balancing both professional and personal responsibilities. It's about offering autonomy without overburdening the workforce, ensuring that mental well-being and productivity go hand in hand. Flexibility shouldn't be an excuse for extended work hours; instead, it should foster a healthy work-life balance. Let's ensure that our practices reflect the values we promote, creating a more supportive and sustainable working environment for everyone. If she had quit earlier, here's what people might have said: "She couldn’t handle the pressure." "She wasn't strong enough for the fast-paced IT world." "Maybe she lacked the necessary skills." "She wasn’t committed enough to the job." "She gave up too soon." "She wasn’t fit for this industry." "She didn’t have what it takes to succeed." "She wasn’t talented enough to progress." "She didn't prioritize her career." "She was too weak for corporate life." So so many.... And the list never ends. I personally know lots of people are still struggling to manage their personal and professional life. You guys too know it. But can't do anything because we are in the trap of EMI. #worklifebalance #law #noneedforprograms #realpeace #womenempowerment #anna #manyofus #hrrequest #organization #firm #ceo #takeaction #wlb_action

Answers: https://lnkd.in/d6AXBN4E #WorkLifeBalance #FlexibleHours #JobMarketTrends Hey there, folks! 🌟 I've been curious about something lately and would love to get your thoughts. Remember those days when some people were only clocking in less than 4 hours a day? Is that still happening out there, or was it just a quirky phase driven by the wild market conditions we experienced? 🤔 Here are some thoughts: Work Trends Shifting: The nature of work has changed a lot recently. People are seeking better work-life balance and flexibility. So, are we seeing more part-time positions or micro-work opportunities out there? Economic Influences: The unusual job market a while back really pushed workplaces to rethink their approaches. Some companies offered shorter hours to attract and retain talent. Is that still a trend, or has it faded away? Employee Well-being: With the rise of mental health awareness, more organizations are focusing on employee welfare. Shorter workdays could be part of that picture. How do you think that’s impacting productivity? Challenges of Reduced Hours: While the idea soun...
