#ev EMOBILITY ON THE GERMAN POLITICAL AGENDA: WHAT PRIORITIES SHOULD GUIDE THE NEXT GOVERNMENT? Electric mobility in Germany is currently at a decisive stage, marked by challenges arising from the potential dissolution of the “Ampel” coalition and the political uncertainty this generates. This scenario could present a key opportunity for candidates in the upcoming February elections to intensify their efforts towards a sustainable transition. This scenario could present a key opportunity for candidates in the upcoming February elections to intensify their efforts towards a sustainable transition. In this context, experts agree that the next government must establish clear priorities to ensure the progress of electromobility. York Kolb emphasises that economic incentives are crucial to democratise access to electric mobility. These programmes must particularly target middle- and low-income sectors, where the adoption of clean technologies remains a challenge. Furthermore, he adds: “The focus should be on pushing original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to produce affordable EVs.” Without an increase in the supply of electric units at competitive prices, the transition will continue to be slow. full article: https://lnkd.in/dDm2dY7d

How fit is Germany’s #charging infrastructure? With 120,000+ publicly accessible charging points, Germany currently ranks second in Europe after the Netherlands. However, a recent study by Statista shows that the country takes a more modest 11th place in terms of the number of charging points per 1,000 inhabitants. But does that necessarily mean that the charging infrastructure cannot meet demand? It is important to note that new #EVs are not appearing on German roads as quickly as was expected just a few years ago, while the expansion of the charging infrastructure is progressing steadily. Taking a look at the ratio between the number of registered electric vehicles and the existing charging points, it becomes clear that the charging #infrastructure in Germany is fully up-to-date. With more than 680,000 charging points, DCS provides access to one of the largest and fastest growing public charging networks in Europe. We will continue working on delivering seamless charging experience and drive public adoption of #emobility. Want to learn more? Stay updated with our news!

🚗🔋 Can Policy Damage or Hype the Roll-Out of Electric Vehicles? 🇧🇪✨ Belgium's political landscape is shifting, and the future government could significantly impact eMobility policies. With the recent elections, the formation of the new federal administration is underway, and the sector is keenly watching the developments. Key Highlights: Political Context: The dominance of Vlaams Belang in Flanders and the New Flemish Alliance (N-VA) being the largest party, while MR and Les Engagés are expected to establish themselves in the south. Potential Policy Changes: If N-VA prevails, they may push to postpone the phase-out of combustion engines from 2029 to 2035, aligning with possible EU considerations. Philippe Vangeel's Insight: Stability and clear long-term signals are crucial for maintaining momentum in EV sales. Political doubts can lead to a slowdown, as seen with a slight decrease in EV registrations in Europe. Belgium's Prominent Position: Despite challenges, Belgium excels in charging infrastructure and EV adoption, with a significant growth in EV share to 50.4%. With nearly a quarter of a million electric vehicles on the road and a robust charging network, Belgium is poised to compete with European leaders like the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. The question remains: Can policy decisions either damage or hype the roll-out of electric vehicles in Belgium? 🚀🔋 Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/d5Un_8uu #EVBelgium #eMobility #ElectricVehicles #SustainableFuture #ZeroEmissions #Belgium

💡 I want to elaborate on a question which is as relevant as ever: ➡ What is the potential impact of #electricvehicles on transport emissions in Germany? The #German government abruptly rolled back its subsidy program for battery electric vehicles in December 2023, around a year after it cut back on the environmental bonus given for the purchase of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. In parallel, the federal government remained committed to its target of having 15 million battery-electric vehicles in circulation in Germany by 2030. Growing #EV sales could contribute to the #decarbonization of the country’s transport sector, which is the third-highest polluter behind the energy and industry sectors, and help Germany lower its environmental impact. 📈 I'm excited to share with you our brand new Statista trend report which provides insights on the magnitude of this contribution through two scenarios: 1) The business-as-usual scenario assumes a static market environment without involvement from the federal government or industry stakeholders. 2) The exponential growth scenario, in contrast, assumes further intervention to boost electric vehicle adoption. The report also features a comprehensive overview of the current German electric vehicle market and analyses the factors impacting passenger car emissions. Go straight to the study: ➡ https://lnkd.in/es_Gswtr Which scenario do you think will occur? Is Germany's goal of having 15 million BEVs on the road until 2030 realistic? And will the ban of sales of new engine cars from 2035 be the right way for the EU?

This is exciting to see. The railway presents a huge opportunity to reduce CO2 associated with the transportation of goods and people compared to road vehicles and airplanes. The deal is even sweeter when we can make our trains battery-powered, effectively achieving zero emissions. This is a wonderful achievement by Siemens Mobility, one that underscores the potential for sustainable transportation solutions.
Proud that Siemens Mobility has launched its battery bi-mode train and discontinuous electrification plans (including Rail Charging Converters) today. We show how we can replace Britain's diesel trains and save £3.5 billion and 12 million tonnes of CO2 emissions. https://lnkd.in/ezdEfmFn #TransformTheEveryday
