Established with the belief that no child should go without a gift at Christmas, this appeal is supported by many local businesses, including ourselves. It's time for a refresh of the Charity Governance Code, and we're asking you: 🚧 What are the barriers to using the Code? 🔄 Are there parts of the Code which need updating, to ensure its provisions stay relevant in the years to come? ✨ Does the Code do enough to support smaller charities? 👐 How can the Code be made more accessible? Make sure to have your say - whether or not you and your charity use the Code. Respond to our survey by the 11th August: https://lnkd.in/eBTSP-bu #CharityGovernanceCode #CharitySector #Governance #BoardofTrustees #CharityChairs

Charities - the set and forget myth No doubt all persons responsible for charities (board, management etc) are aware that there is an ongoing obligation to review the governance and operations of the charity to ensure it remains eligible to be registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission. For those that need a refresher or are looking for a way to document this, the ACNC has a self evaluation form that can be completed and signed by the board. It's a good way to meet your obligations... but ultimately ensuring all responsible people are invested and across the activities of the charity is an even better outcome. Build this process into your year end and make it a habit #charities #philanthropy https://lnkd.in/gEPU-guB

Here's why you should keep it local when choosing a charity to support. 💚 👉 We rely on local support. We don't have the big budgets of national charities to produce that kind of reach, so we need to find our support closer to home. 👉 As a supporter, you get to see the impact your support is having. 👉 With lower administrative and operational costs, local charities usually give a higher percentage of donations to the actual cause. 👉 There are different ways to support a local charity: you could give time, matchfunding, host a fundraising event, payroll giving or even purchase something from our Amazon Wishlist 🔗 If you would like to support us - details below👇 #ChestersMentalHealthCharity #MentalHealthAwareness #Charity #ItsWhatWeDo #Counselling #Therapy

🔍 Question for the Charity Sector Community: At Charizone, we use data to give a clear picture of charities. One data point we collect is whether charities show their registration number on their website. According to NCVO, charities with an income over £10,000 are required to publish their name and registration number on online publications and printed materials. While it might seem like a small detail, this data point reveals different aspects of compliance, trust, transparency and legitimacy. In your opinion, how important is this requirement for influencing how funders and stakeholders perceive charities? 🤔💡 #UKcharities #philanthropy #giving #charitydata #csr #governance

It was great to be back at the Chartered Institute of Fundraising's Convention at the Queen Elizabeth Centre this week. There were so many inspirational sessions about how charity fundraisers are striving and innovating to raise vital funds for their charities. A few highlights included: 💵 A panel discussion on navigating the cost of living crisis chaired by Rob Cope MInstF(Dip). In summary: greater demand for charity services x decreasing donations x budget gaps = an incredibly challenging fundraising landscape! 🕵♀️ A really helpful and practical session on how to conduct donor due diligence and create a gift acceptance policy. Key tips included taking a consistent approach to all major donors and developing research checklists and report templates to speed up the process. ✉ A talk on how to deal with 'shrinking databases' and maximise the number of supporters a charity can contact. Some charities have tried to combat this issue by moving a way from a consent based model for direct marketing and using legitimate interest where possible. I'm already looking forward to next year's Convention! #FundraisingFridays

The Charity Commission has found that public trust in charities has reached its highest level in 10 years! Charities scored an average of 6.5 out of 10 for trust among the UK public, which is the highest level since 2014. The figure was at 5.5 in 2018 following a series of scandals within the sector but has risen over the past few years. Despite the increase in trust, the proportion of respondents who had donated or raised funds for charity is declining. Focus groups found that causes of low trust in charities included: 👉 Negative media coverage. 👉 Contact and disagreement with a charity’s actions. 👉 Lack of financial information on charities.
