✅🖥️ AdExchanger (8/1): “Roku added 2MM HH accounts last quarter, bringing its total to 83.6MM. And advertisers can match these Roku accounts with UID2 identifiers to target their audience on Roku. By adding UID2, Roku advertisers will be able to “achieve more precise targeting,” said Charlie Collier, president of Roku Media. And Roku advertisers who want to use UID2 can use the Roku Exchange, a more direct, data-enriched path between Roku supply and programmatic demand launched in June. Roku Exchange is integrated with an array of DSPs, including The Trade Desk. So This is Fascinating and I am very pleased. This week I posted that we needed responsibility to come back into programmatic. Because otherwise everyone blames others and we end up with a polluted ecosystem (fraud, bad content, MFA, hate etc). I have been talking about this in different ways for years. We need some level of walls to keep out the bad actors. We need some level of responsibility to maintain standards. Its clear that TTD and Jeff Green agree. This is at the nub of the push to the premium internet. With TTD taking some level of responsibility for what happens on their platform. Its also worth saying that the easy option is to do nothing. Many platforms make millions out of poor content in the short term. We need more action like this for the long term. For thats the point. This is not altruistic but acting to secure the long term viability of the channel.

"The U.S. Joint Industry Committee (JIC) has certified iSpot.tv as an advertising currency, making it the first recommended for transacting cross-platform (linear TV and CTV) ad buys based on personified demographic-based audience guarantees." Coinciding with the surge in streaming viewership, there's been bubbling competition in the measurement and 'ad currency' space since the Media Rating Council (MRC) suspended Nielsen's accreditation in 2021 (regained in 2023). The lack of truly viable Linear + CTV audience measurement solutions created daylight for "alternative" measurement companies such as VideoAmp and iSpot.tv. TL:DR in three bullet points: • Roku has launched Roku Ads Manager, a self-serve ad platform that allows advertisers to buy and optimize campaigns across all streaming inventory on Roku, not just individual streaming services. • The platform offers features such as geolocation targeting, audience segmentation, and outcome-based optimization. Retail media ads receive a 183% higher engagement rate than the baseline average across all impressions tracked by DoubleVerify. High engagement comes at the cost of viewability, however, as only 36% of retail media ads placed on retailers’ owned inventory were seen, compared with 73% for audience extension inventory.
