So Delaware wants to be a “tech hub” 🏙️, but here’s the reality check: according to Code.org's 2024 State of Computer Science Education Report, only 61% of high schools here offer computer science 🖥️, and less than 6% of students are actually signing up. Meanwhile, neighboring states like Maryland and New Jersey are way ahead—fully funded 💸, with state plans 📜, and higher enrollment numbers. And what about the younger kids? We’re handing out Chromebooks in elementary school 📲, but where’s the computer science education to go with them? Kids are using tech every day but aren’t getting the skills they need to understand it, build with it, or innovate for the future. 🌐 If we’re serious about preparing our kids—and Delaware—for a tech-driven future 🚀, it’s time to go beyond talk and invest in computer science at every grade level. Does the workplace make your beer taste better?    If you listen to the Acquired podcast, one of the repeated lessons you hear (attributed to Jeff Bezos) is this idea that businesses should continuously question what infrastructure is best to internally operate in order to truly differentiate their products and services – and what infrastructure should they outsource to the wider commercial ecosystem? Doing so helps them find ways to stay lean (especially important for start-ups) while taking advantage of platforms that do a better job at delivering infrastructure products and services to businesses.   This got me thinking about how this lesson would apply to workplace. I decided to write a reflection piece on Medium to outline these thoughts.   https://lnkd.in/esb5bCYN   TL;DR – Given the rapid growth in the coworking and flex office market over the last decade, businesses have so many more options available to them for offloading workplace operations to the wider commercial ecosystem (i.e. coworking and flex office providers). A great workplace experience matters for a variety of reasons. Many of these providers can do a better job at delivering a superior workplace “product” that offers people a better overall user experience, while creating better value for businesses. Coworking is not a one-size-fits-all solution, and there are many reasons why businesses will always need to operate their own spaces. But I argue it’s time to engage in this thought exercise to determine whether operating workspace really adds value to your business (i.e. makes your beer taste better) or whether it’s time to look for partner who can do a better job for your people and your business. Coworking and flex space providers have shifted the mindset in recent years from thinking about workplace as an operation that costs businesses money to a product that creates enterprise value. #coworking #workplace #flexoffice #futureofwork #employeeexperience #office #workplaceasaservice

It’s true. Facts don’t change minds, questions do. Collaboration does. Relationships do. In many cases, explaining your own position does little more than enable the person you disagree with to prepare their arguments against your facts. It’s far more effective to ask questions and seek data that enable them to see the gaps in their own reasoning. Enter these conversations with an open mind and an understanding that you both might learn something. Try it it works.

This doesn’t always work at home. - “Did you take out the trash?” - “Was I supposed to?” 🙂 In all seriousness, the skill and habit of asking questions is the source of True Intelligence. For example, Artificial Intelligence is impressive, but being able to ask the right questions (i.e., forming effective prompts) produces even better results. Our human capacity to be curious is what makes us collectively able to grow and advance. This is true in societies (think of when governmental systems restrict asking questions), science, teams, and as individuals. #innovation #management #AI #prompts #productmanagement
