Want to know a good way to encourage/force your company to support and champion your brand campaign? Custom Slack emojis. Will the customer ever see them? Probably not, but who cares. Half the battle is internal alignment, excitement, and keeping the spirit of the campaign alive. I'm a big believer in momentum > moments. For “Now You Know,” we created some seemingly random but campaign-specific gems: the grandfluencer, the foam finger, sparkling crystal ball, the tagline, the hashtag #ydkwydk. We just had fun with it. Shameless tip: whenever you post in Slack about the campaign, make sure to react to your own post with every single emoji (subtlety is overrated!!)

When I first joined Frontify and the partnership team, I quickly got used to using Gong for all my external calls. The funny thing is, more often than not, the people I'd speak to would also get very excited about it and ask if they could get it too (mind you, this was BEFORE the big AI hype). So naturally, when Udi Ledergor 🏳‍🌈 invited marketers to talk to him and learn more about how to leverage Gong for marketing, I was excited to hear more. While talking to Udi, I was reminded again about what a great tool Gong is (yes, I work for a SaaS company, and I love software, so what) and how easy it is to leverage for direct feedback at scale from your customers and prospects. I love connecting with other product marketers—especially when you can validate some of what you’re seeing in the market is in fact universal. Here are some thoughts to consider now as a #PMM: 1️⃣ Niche Over Mass - This is something we’re seeing pick up. There’s a growing trend toward serving niche markets, which requires deep market understanding. 2️⃣ Market Saturation - Many markets are becoming saturated with products so it’s even more important than ever to get super crisp on your position, unique value props, and innovation. 3️⃣ Interactive Demos - Saw a lot of this at the Product Marketing Summit in San Francisco. People want more engagement and interaction directly with the product and companies like Storylane and Walnut were a couple that specialize in this that we got to hear from. Day 29 of my #100DaysOfAI 💯 🧪 Does AI feed into your imposter syndrome? (Inspired by a hilarious exchange on the Product Marketing Alliance community Slack channel 👇) PMM A: Can we take credit for AI’s work if it adds new sentences and expands on ideas in ways we haven’t considered? PMM B: If farmers can claim milk, you can claim AI output. 🐄 🚀 Today, I continued to hone my prompt engineering skills using the PREP framework to develop a marketing strategy for a fictitious product launch. As I get better at mega-prompts, I find that AI output becomes more thoughtful, precise, and helpful (see my prompt below ). But here’s the rub 😰 : while AI’s accessibility can level the playing field for Product Marketers at various experience levels, it can also amplify feelings of imposter syndrome. 🧠 Here’s why: AI can generate impressive results, leading us to question our own contributions. However, it’s crucial to understand that AI enhances our work but doesn’t replace the need for deep market, customer, and competitor knowledge. The PMMs who will prevail in the AI era are those who craft precise, thoughtful prompts and use AI tools effectively to amplify, not substitute, their expertise. 💡 To combat imposter syndrome, focus on these strategies: (1) Keep updating your skills and knowledge to stay ahead. (2) Use AI to enhance your insights, not as a crutch for your own expertise. Free resource for those wondering "do I really need to rearchitect my GTM?" Hopefully it helps some folks reorient around the LinkedIn GTM hype. I have had so many conversations about the pressure revops/GTM/founder leaders feel to completely reimagine their GTM process in light of a recent wave of tools such as... - Signal-based selling - Intent and scoring - Clay - AI for GTM And in our recent outreach for our SDR Relief Fund, so many replies indicate how often SDR/BDR teams get laid off. Let's take a first principles approach to this instead, and talk about the problem. And if you can go through this, get to the end, and say you've taken these steps, I think you'll either find: A) Product does not have PMF. It's back to the drawing board *like the drawing board of the founders back when it was just an idea in their heads* B) Experimentation reveals TAM is smaller than imagined but there is profitability to be had within a couple niche sectors - that's great, as long as you didn't raise too much you can plan to reach profitability with those sectors while building for other sectors or launching something new... or (crazy idea) enjoying your life C) There is a real need for automating manual work. Great, there are tons of excellent tools for this now. Get help from 🤖 Jacob Tuwiner and Joe Rhew and Brigitta ☀️ Ruha. Ocean.io, Keyplay are worth testing here. D) There is a need to better manage, enable, and use AI/Clay/etc to supercharge SDR/BDR teams so that they can all succeed, not just have a small subset succeed. Sit down with Scott Martinis, Jordan Crawford, Alex Boyd and feel way better about the work in front of you. Another title for this could be "don't get drawn too deeply into the hype; figure out what you need and evaluate from there." I know this doesn't answer the questions out there like "what is Clay?" but it's really a tool for solving some (not all) of the problems mentioned here. So you'll get there.
