What are the steps to transition from full-time work to consulting?
This is a good overview of marketing that will come in handy at some point in the transition from full-time work to independent consulting. However, while marketing is certainly important, a surprisingly small amount is actually needed before you find clients. A good LinkedIn profile, a simple one-page website and the right kind of conversations with your existing network is all it takes. The reality is that marketing is a long game and using it to attract clients takes more time than most people think. Instead of waiting for that to happen, reach out to people in a non-salesy way and start talking.
