The most important skill as a new manager is to build a strong inter-personal relationship of trust with her team members. The next important skill is to set clear and measurable goal for the team and ensure everyone understands the mission for the team. Then work with each team member for them to set their goals that align to the team's goal. Without building trust and confidence first, this will not be possible.
