Gallipoli casualties by country https://lnkd.in/geqevTAG his interactive diagram shows the number of fatal and non-fatal casualties for Allied and Ottoman forces during the Gallipoli campaign (April 1915–January 1916). The Gallipoli campaign was a costly failure for the Allies, with an estimated 27,000 French, and 115,000 British and dominion troops (Great Britain and Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Newfoundland) killed or wounded. Over half these casualties (73,485) were British and Irish troops. New Zealand suffered around 8000 killed and wounded, about 5.6 percent of Allied casualties on Gallipoli. The Ottoman Empire paid a heavy price for their victory: an estimated 250,000 Turkish and Arab troops were killed or wounded defending Gallipoli. Note: It is difficult to determine exact casualty figures for the Gallipoli campaign as numbers vary in different publications. The statistics used for this graphic are based on casualty figures in Richard Stowers, Bloody Gallipoli (2005).

#MiddleEastTensions | It has long been an assumption that the Israel Defense Forces could not pull off an attack like they did yesterday without USAF aerial refuelers. If it did, those Israeli pilots would be on a one-way suicide mission. The Israeli Air Force apparently used over 100 F-35Is in this attack, and at least some of those planes had to fly 2,000 kilometers (1,242 miles). The IDF is claiming all aircraft returned from their missions intact. The United States Department of Defense has denied any involvement in the attack. #Israel has proved it can attack #Iran at will independently, and that will change the calculations of capitals across the region. Observing China’s blockade of Taiwan during Exercise Joint Sword 2024B brought me back to my time as an officer cadet at Malaysia’s Royal Military College, where one of the core tactics we trained in counter-insurgency was to cordon and isolate the objective before launching an attack. The logic was clear: cut off the target from support, contain its ability to respond, and only then, strike decisively. This tactic resonates not just in military operations but also in today’s strategic landscape—whether it’s managing geopolitical challenges or safeguarding business interests. The importance of preparation, isolation, and timing in neutralizing threats is as relevant now as it was then. As we navigate complex and dynamic environments—be it in national security, physical security, cybersecurity, or corporate strategy—understanding how to contain and mitigate risks before they become critical is key to success. The modern Army unit will need to be more mobile and have a less visible electromagnetic signature.” Recently, at the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) at Fort Johnson, Louisiana, the 101st Airborne Division’s 2nd Brigade tested new equipment that is helping to achieve all three of these goals. During a training exercise in which the 2nd Brigade conducted a mission against another unit that was acting as a mock adversary, they experimented with the Terrestrial Layer System Manpack, a dismounted electronic warfare system that can be used for jamming-on-the-move. The 2nd Brigade also deployed dozens of decoys – commercial raspberry pi’s, which are low cost, credit-card sized computers – mounted on small drones. As a result, the “enemy” could not distinguish between the command post and lower echelons, and actually spent about half of its artillery ammunition targeting what it thought was Soldiers and their equipment but in fact was just bare land. “The thing that surprised me was actually the effectiveness of the decoys that were put out,” said Maj. Gen. Brett Sylvia, the commander of the 101st Airborne Division. “I underestimated…the effectiveness that we would see out there. It really did create some real dilemmas for [the enemy] during this fight.” 2nd Brigade’s command post was also more compact and mobile than in the past, allowing it to be mistaken for a smaller unit. Democracy - what Democracy? “The tyranny of the majority.” John Adams. Thomas Jefferson purportedly claimed that democracy can often resemble mob rule, and in the case of America’s current political sphere, this saying has a ring of truth. According to a 2022 Pew survey, only 32% of American adults felt that the two primary political parties adequately align with their views. That means that an overwhelming majority of Americans (200 million) are not happy with the current government and election process. To become truly democratic, the US political system must reform. As Robin Williams said: ''Politicians should wear jackets like Nascar drivers, then we would know who owns them.'' A profound statement and reality. The US public is finally waking up to the realities of its corrupted government. To make matters worse, the champions of these polarizing elections are then indebted to the rich who funded their campaigns, rather than to the constituents they were elected to represent. From the outset, the two-party system was condemned at the highest level. “The alternate domination of one faction over another…is itself a frightful despotism,” warned the first U.S. president - George Washington. In recent decades, tensions and violence have risen across the country. Both parties continue to adopt harmful and legal tactics, in an attempt to cut the other down and gain supremacy. The American public suffers as a result. With the 2024 Presidential Elections around the corner, in excess of $2billion has been spent on campaigning. That money will ultimately be at the cost of the Trickle Down Economy via Tax Deductible Donations, aka, heavily disguised lobbying/gambling. Make no mistake, the U.S. Presidential Elections have been tampered with and abused for many years - not always by external regimes and adversaries - but those much closer to home. There's too much riding on it and its got nothing to do with Democracy but Control, Power, and Greed.
