You're overseeing a major emergency response. How can you ensure self-care doesn't fall by the wayside?
Well said, Mayor @James Butts and fellow Crenshaw Cougar! Sometimes, we suffer from hero syndrome, believing the company won't make it without us. Also as a boss, stay on the lookout for those on your team who may need a break but won't ask for or take one (for whatever reason). You may need to step forward and give them permission to step aside. Everyone benefits from the refresh.

Here's how you can openly and transparently communicate about failure with your team.
While failure is never the goal, I find that when we avoid it at all costs, we stifle iteration, innovation, creativity, and resilience. It should be considered a tool to work with, anticipate, and utilize to be more thoughtful, intentional, and nimble in finding pathways to success. It’s not the destination but it can be the motivator.

Strong Black TEA
- Present
Founded as intimate, gatherings of multi-generational women at the start, middle, and apex of their careers over afternoon tea. More than a networking event, this is a special time to be real and speak freely about successes and challenges among colleagues who recognize the sacredness of this time together. It is an honor to host such phenomenal women from across the state and offer opportunities to connect, encourage, and celebrate one another.
