I’ve never really told you all what I actually do for a living, so here you go Pisgah Peaks Ventures builds & manages fractional marketing team for SMBs that are doing under 10-15 M ARR. The teams could be anywhere from 2 to 20+ individuals. Hiring for PT marketing roles can be a big drain on small businesses. They're unsure of who to hire, how to train, and they def don't want to manage them. This keeps costs in check (no office space here!) + avoids costly benefits / W2 wages. Perfect clients for us? B2B companies with 1-2 internal marketing team members Dispensaries with 2-5 locations. Soloprenuers who are scaling from 6 > 7 figures. A few years ago we started investing into other small businesses & at this point have equity in a handful of other SMBs. The goal? At Gassed, we spend $2.8M/month of our own money on ads. Here’s how we’re managing our spend right now in the middle of summer… Unless you’re selling Jacuzzis, coolers, and sunscreen, this is by far our biggest theme for the summer months: New customer profitability > Growth at all costs. Not only is this a key pillar for building a sustainable business in general, but the summer months just typically are a lot slower for a majority of brands. That said, rather than trying to move the needle right now in July, we’re saving our firepower for Q4. And you should be too. Q4 is easily the best time to acquire more long term customers, and therefore is the best time to push for as much growth as you can. For reference, on the affiliate side, we typically spend around 70% of our entire ad spend budget in October, November, and December. All that said, brands should be focusing 100% of their energy right now into maximizing efficiency and lowering CAC. Then, once August and September come around, you can start gearing up to go all in on growth with your campaigns. Otherwise, you’ll be wasting your precious ad spend at a time when it really isn’t worth much. I want to hear how you all are performing right now. Have things been slow this summer? How do you *really* know if podcast ads are bringing in net new customers? Sure, pixel attribution can capture 70% more podcast-attributed conversions.... But how many of those are truly incremental? FOMO is something every brand needs to master in different parts of the customer journey. We've gone from 0 to $80M in the last 5 years. This is what we've learned in the 3 easiest ways to induce FOMO. ✔ Push UGC Not in the standard influencer usage of UGC. Encourage your buyers to share stories, reviews, and photos featuring your products. Here’s the plug-and-play setup: 1)  Create a page on your website dedicated to customer stories.  2)  Social Media Campaigns (make a hashtag)  3)  Contest and Giveaways - Host a contest where users share photos or videos of them using your product for a chance to win a prize. ✔ Leverage Social Proof Include it in your copy. People love reading about the success stories of others, especially first-time buyers. Garners trust for the brand + makes them feel confident that if it worked for others, it’ll work for them too. Do it through email, SMS, ads, or any other content that you push out to your audience. ✔ Create REAL Urgency There’s a few ways you can do this, 1) If you say there are only ten pieces left in stock – once the ten pieces are sold out, you MUST say SOLD OUT. 2) Limited-Edition Products Change up the packaging, sell it only in-store, or the countless other ways to run a limited-edition item. 3) The Countdown Timer Stick a live countdown timer on the page where you’re running a limited-time offer. The reason this method is so effective is because it’s something about actually visualizing time running out that makes buyers start running around like headless chickens. The forecasts you’re creating won’t scale your DTC brand to the new heights you think they will… Without the right actions to follow them up. Too often I see DTC brands  👉 Create forecasts of their desired future state,  👉 Distribute it across the management team,  👉 Then sit back and assume the numbers are just going to "happen."      A forecast is a planning tool that gives managers visibility into the ACTIONS their team must take to create the forecast.    Forecasts become reality in one of two ways  1️⃣ Luck - I don't recommend building a business upon this method  2️⃣ PEOPLE planning and executing activities that drive and create the numbers contained within the forecast.    DTC brand founders, my call to action for you is this -    The next time you create a forecast, sit down with your management team and make a list of the activities that PEOPLE in your company will take to CREATE the forecast in reality.    This simple framework will propel your brand's scale forward like never before. -- Did you find this post helpful? If you're considering doing business influencer marketing. It's really important that you understand LinkedIn is still Social Media. I continually see both influencers and brands break the advertising rules set by Advertising Standards Authority (ASA). You must disclose it's a brand partnership, you can either do this by following the gif below or writing #ad. The other option is listing that you are a "brand partner" or something similar working at the company. Many brands prefer this because it allows them to use that business influencers content as a thought leadership ad. We monitor this at Flooencer as part of this so all our customers remain compliant. You can bet that someone will push it too far and cause larger scale BIM programs to get audited. A side note on this topic, I saw a few people giving some influencers flack for promoting a brand (I won't name names). If they'd disclosed this partnership to their audience, I believe no one would've batted an eyelid. Make sure you are honest with your audience, or, if you're the brand, that you're honest with potential buyers.

Something the best ad agencies can learn from McKinsey -   McKinsey gives high-conviction advice.   Most times, it's right.   B/c they have an edge...their people and their playbook.   If a client consistently disregards their advice, they do something refreshing…   Something most consultants and agencies never do...   They fire the client.   TLDR - they prioritize reputation over revenue.   They'd rather bleed quality and have a reputation for outcomes than bank extra rev.   Chalk it up to a "third edge."   This is how we operate too.   It's not that we're never wrong…   We're learning every day, too.   But if you're not ready to move quick and learn together, we're not a fit.   B/c retainers with the wrong brand--no matter how large--aren't worth the cost.

Top 3 MISTAKES I see brands making with video content: 1. Poor Distribution Strategy Posting a video without considering the platform’s audience, optimal posting times, or tailoring the format to the platform can result in poor engagement and reach. 2. Not Optimizing for Different Platforms Brands frequently use the same video for all platforms without adjusting it to the platform's specs. Vertical videos for Instagram Reels or TikTok may perform better, but horizontal formats are a better fit for YouTube and websites. 3. Not Repurposing Content A common mistake is failing to repurpose video content into shorter clips, GIFs, or stills for social media or ads.
