Friends, In an effort to adapt and grow with our ever-changing community, I have realized that we can do better in supporting those struggling to find their place in games. TOP NEW CREATIVE “STAR WARS: HUNTERS” BY ZYNGA The competition for IPs remains fierce in the mobile games market. The latest initiative comes from Zynga, with the Star Wars franchise. 🌌🎖️ The game is a hero shooter focusing on player versus player (PvP) combat, featuring 3D stylized art and a core gaming experience. ⚔️ The game includes various Star Wars characters, allowing players to engage in strategic team-based multiplayer battles. It features multiple game modes and leverages the Star Wars license to create an immersive environment that appeals to fans of the movies and the shooter genre. 🤩 Two weeks ago the game began its growth stage and has reached 2.5MM downloads and US$740k in IAP revenue so far. 📈 It's no surprise that to achieve this result, the Star Wars IP is central to the UA strategy. 🎯 Drawing on a stylized cartoon, the flagship creative video does not make direct reference to the gameplay. So much so that one wonders: is this an ad for a game or a movie? 🤔 Created on June 6, the creative video has achieved over 6.7MM impressions to date. Of these 48% are in 🇨🇦 and 40% in the 🇺🇸 . The source of the impressions is 100% Mintegral. I strongly agree with Shawn Laydens comments in this article - Games Industry please be patient. The tendency to abandon promising new concepts in favor of established AAA franchises stifles creativity and growth. As Layden commented, “Building more of those experiences will not get [new players] in.” It’s through innovation and new experiences that we can attract and engage a broader audience. He also highlighted the overexcitement during the pandemic years, leading to unsustainable growth expectations. The need for patience and a long-term perspective is crucial, especially when smaller studios bear the brunt of hasty financial decisions. The future of the industry lies in supporting fresh, creative projects that can drive true growth and evolution. I am very sorry to learn of two additional cuts that happened in games this week: Lively Studio had a "small number of layoffs" while Armor Games Studios laid off its publishing team. Both claims were widely reported across major games press. If your job has been impacted by these closures, please utilize the support available through our three platforms. Specifically, I suggest exploring the Games Org Support Posts in Home 1. These resources have a proven track record of effectiveness, backed by extensive data. There are no simple answers, but our community's primary aim is to ease the burden for as many individuals as possible. Our data shows that for all candidates, your chances of securing a role in the gaming industry double (from 6% to 12%) over 12 months if you consistently use all our resources compared to not using them. MineCraft Projects I've done in the last 10 yrs.

Sumo Digital announced a 15% cut in its workforce, roughly impacting 250 individuals. Among these 250 individuals was the team of Timbre Games, which also confirmed that the studio was being shut down. Timbre Games was founded in 2021 and made a part of Pipework Studios. Although Timbre had yet to launch any games, its website indicates that it was in the middle of two game projects. Unfortunately, game developers face more loss than the parent company when something like this happens. Who knows how Timbre's team might be coping after putting in millions of efforts to build the games and losing everything in a single blink? In their support, this is list 2 of some of the Timbreeos who were impacted by the closure. Every bit from the community counts, so requesting you all to help this reach recruiters and game studios currently hiring. Sophie Mallinson — In 2017, she was Arkane Studios' (Lyon) Narrative Designer who worked on Dishonored: Death of the Outsider and Wolfenstein: Youngblood. By 2019, she had become a Principal Narrative Designer for Arkane's Deathloop. It is quite interesting to note that after Arkane, she went on to work for EA on Star Wars and later for EA's own studio - Maxis Studios on The Sims Series. Nadia Lohan — With over a decade's worth of experience in Production, before Timbre, Nadia was a Producer at Blackbird Interactive and worked on Minecraft Legends. Notably, she has experience in the VFX industry and coordinated for blockbusters like Mulan, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Maleficent. Vivek Ramkumar — Here's a talented Game Designer who has worked on titles like Sleeping Dogs and Tryst, built his own first-person indie game, and has experience in LiveOps Design. Prior to Timbre, he was a senior Technical Designer for Relic Entertainment. Gerritt Turner — Before Timbre, Gerritt worked at Wizards of the Coast on a lot of Magic: The Gathering's writing, designing and overall creative. They even have an experience in Brand Writing for Hasbro. Yuliia Bocharova — Prior to Timbre, she was a Lead 3D Artist for Blackbird Interactive and worked there for 3+ years. This is a PSA to all tech artists and anybody in gamedev trying to make OSS libraries: You NEED to include a license with your repo. If you don't then nobody is allowed to clone, fork, or use your repo in any way. I am saying this because apparently this is not known by the vast majority of people in this community. This is a perfect example: https://lnkd.in/ed2xgyth. Seven years of houdini tutorials. NONE of it can be used. If you hit fork or clone on that repo you are breaking the law. Such a shame. Everybody loses. Please spread the word. Include licenses. OSS in gamedev is just starting and every license added to a repo like this makes a huge difference in making OSS gamedev a reality. With exciting innovations. 💎 I highlight 4️⃣ titles of them. ✅ “Wasteland Life: Survival Idle” by SayGames "Wasteland Life" is another Idle Arcade from the pioneering publisher Hybricasual. It brings a Mad Max-style desert survival narrative. 🏜️💦 But smoother… 😅 "Wasteland” was developed by Tinkles Games, a studio with several hits in its portfolio, such as “Hit Master 3D” (170MM). 👏 It was transferred to SayGames's account on May 18th. 🗓️ ✅ “Awesome Park: Idle Game” by Supercent The avant-garde publisher of the new crop of Idle Arcades has released another one. "Awesome Park" is similar to the South Korean publisher's previous hits, but with an amusement park theme. 🎢 At first glance, the game doesn't seem to be anything different. However, it doesn't have the repetitive tasks typical of an entrepreneurship game. Because the amusement park theme opens up the creation of different and unexpected products/services. From Ferris wheels 🎡 to car simulators. 🚗 This simple but meaningful change brings freshness to the subgenre. Developed by AlbusVR, "Awesome Park" was transferred to Supercent's account on May 23th. 🗓️ ✅ “Sky Miner!” by YSO Corp The new Idle Arcade from a big French publisher brings an innovation to game art. 🎨 The game's scenery has a camera closer to the screen. 🎦 Reducing the viewing space, but making the quality of the game's art stand out. This change impacts the entire gaming experience. I liked it. 🤩 Developed by Letsplay games, “Sky Miner!” was transferred to YsoCorp's account on May 30th. 🗓️ ✅ “Dark Arts Master” by Homa In my opinion, it’s the most innovative of the newly released games. ✨ "Dark" is an Idle Arcade with an exceptionally well-built RPG metagame. It balanced the simplicity of Hypercasual with the depth of the story of a role-player.
