We launched a new AI Analyst feature today called Odin. Odin might not be replacing full-time human marketers (yet 😅), but it is helping me explore our data with more clarity and depth at HockeyStack. Here’s how: 1. Combatting Analysis Blindness Looking at the same reports daily (or if you’re like me, 20x a day) can lead to the "yeah, looks normal" response where subtle trends get overlooked. Odin acts like a fresh set of eyes, helping me spot those details I might miss from repeated exposure. When I find myself saying, "looks normal," I hit "Analyze with Odin" and see what comes back. I usually find myself digging into at least one point in the analysis. 2. Challenging My Confirmation Bias We all fall into the trap of seeing what we expect to see. Sometimes, a decline in metrics might be easy to brush off as "seasonal" or as "anticipated shifts." But Odin’s ability to zero in on outliers has flagged downturns that deserved a closer look, which gives me a nudge to drill down when I have those “yeah, that’s what I expected” moments. 3. Lifting the Anchor Sometimes I find it really hard to look past my initial interpretation of data. While Odin doesn’t always have a wildly different version of analysis, it has caused me to ask, “do I really understand why we’re seeing this?” This has led me to re-visualize reports or create a new type of report that shines the data in a different light, sometimes digging 3 or 4 layers down (Monday was that kind of day). I love that I've been able to incorporate Odin into my daily workflow. Even if AI isn't yet running the marketing department, hitting a button and feeling an instant shift in perspective or the spark of a new idea has been super helpful and invigorating.

Two weeks after wrapping up my first Pavilion GTM conference, a few powerful takeaways are still top of mind and influencing my planning for next year: Ever Evolving GTM: The need for a new GTM approach in B2B couldn’t be clearer. Shorter tenures are causing a loss of institutional knowledge, complexity is demanding tighter cross-functional alignment, and GTM efficiency has dropped by 58% since 2019. With rising capital costs, execution and efficiency are more critical than ever. As hard as it is aligning teams and sweating the details on performance and being in the same boat is ultimately what will lead to success or failure. As always enjoyed the sessions from Winning by Design and 🐶 Jacco van der Kooij, GTM Partners and Sydney Sloan was my favourite presentation on technical marketing campaigns and first team mindset. Is AI the Next Big Thing or Everything? Analyst Benedict Evans delivered a compelling talk on AI, illustrating that while interest is sky-high, actual applications are still limited. A consistent theme was the importance of exploring AI’s potential, given its fast-evolving role, especially as scalable use cases emerge and I am really excited to see more from Amanda Kahlow and 1mind. Sharing Success, Showing Humility, and Directness: A big takeaway was the authenticity shown by leaders like Benjamin Samuels and Kim Scott, and Square’s Tom Hanrahan, who openly shared their journeys and challenges. Their openness underscored that humility, candor, and success can, and should, coexist in leadership. And I got a selfie with my hero too thank you Kim! What a specifically brilliant day yesterday at the annual CRO Connected summit. As an investor in my own growth, this community consistently outperforms every other peer-to-peer cohort I have ever belonged to. It blends development, friendship, and excellence in execution without simultaneously regurgitating the same old tropes and zeitgeist, unlike the others in the category. Joshua Smith has expertly stewarded community growth with intimacy and could easily have made the same mistakes as Pavilion, who hugely diluted their offering with expansion post funding. Key moments: Tijs van Santen and Luca Smuraglia managed to articulate the prime concerns and operational focus that PE investors really care about from you as a CRO of a growth company. You rarely get candour and expectations set in such an honest format. I sense that a few careers have changed after this conversation. Maggie Buggie may now, unwillingly, have become my favourite executive in all of business. Zero bullshit and the intentional design in thinking about her growth was a revelation to my own career development and showed you could be a fun human and a serious operator whilst being hugely focused. Chris Duddridge, huge kudos for bringing AI experts to an expert conversation on AI in GTM. Not just GTM wonks discussed AI in GTM, which was awesome. You managed to breathe fresh air into a stale conference and overused roundtable topic. He again blends fun with competence, and I respect him very much. Semir Jahic provided so much insight in this conversation, and I continue to be a huge fanboy of his. Graham Keen - well, he is bloody incredible, and anyone with a growth mindset should probably seek out his perspectives on positive psychology, who may have helped me get over my golf issues in a 15-minute conversation. Snazzy dresser as well. And then, the weak sauce, I have attached my slides from the talk I gave in such an esteemed company here for those who could not make it and honouring my promise to do so... Are you sick of the same old SAAS GTM conversations? Spend your personal development budget here, not on the alternatives that simply regurgitate the same old stuff. Lastly, a huge shout out to Russell Renton 📞 for doing the unimaginable. He expertly ran a live cold calling session during the lunch breakout, with 60 CROs watching him execute flawlessly. Representing Ascenditt at the Scale Conference today. This is primarily a conference for the home service space, not marketing and not ecom or saas (our two main target markets) So why am I here? A new space we’ve quietly moved into in the last 2 years is roofing. Turns out we are pretty good at generating leads for roofers and those leads are worth $15k on average for a closed deal. And if you can generate leads to sell 5-6 figure pieces of software that companies don’t necessarily need, selling a 15k roof that someone needs right now is a cakewalk. So back to why am I here? I’m meeting and learning everything I can about this audience and their businesses… their processes, challenges, fears etc. You have no business calling yourself an expert in or servicing any vertical that you are not intimately familiar with. If you do that, you are lying and you are stealing. Looking at all you other agencies and freelancers out there that niche hop or take every client that comes through your door. We’ve already cracked the code on lead and revenue generation for roofers (generating nearly 9 figures in sales), but I’m still here continuing to learn and talk to more founders in the space. I’m not happy just understanding marketing and how to generate leads for these businesses, I want to know everything about them and how they work. Just like we’ve done in the saas and ecom spaces. We can do more than most marketers and solve bigger business problems than most marketers because we know more about our client’s businesses than most marketers. We are not just marketers, we are experts in all aspects of the businesses we serve who happen to specialize in marketing.

The look on my face says it all -- There is nothing more painful than sitting through a meeting looking at the wrong information at the wrong time. It kills me. Reporting is not always fun. But this 5-minute tutorial shows some good places to start! Training is absolutely important, however I'd frame is slightly different in this context of collaboration. Marketing leaders should ensure a culture of collaborative continuous learning where marketers will thrive while continuing to up-level skills (amidst the fumbles that inherently occur while learning) in our ever rapid evolving marketing profession, AI's impact being one element.
