This is a friendly reminder: you can build meaningful connections and relationships at work! That hiring manager you’re partnering with? Take the time to get to know them. The Director of TA collaborating with you on a role? Build a rapport. The Coordinator working tirelessly to schedule your interviews? Show appreciation and learn more about them. Working closely with your HRBPs? Take the time to get to know them! They serve as the vital link between you and your hiring managers, helping you navigate leadership needs and priorities. Build a strong partnership by collaborating with them! Even within your own talent team—if you haven’t had a chance to connect deeply with some colleagues, make the effort to bridge that gap. There’s a lot value in getting to know the people you work with. Personally, I’ve taken steps to reach out to those I don’t work closely with, simply to learn more about their roles and journeys. So, take the leap—make connections, gain insights, and step outside your comfort zone. Don’t let fear of rejection hold you back. Building relationships is where true growth begins!

🚨 Lessons Learned: TA vs. Agency Debate 🚨 After sifting through the comments of my last post, here's what I’ve learnt: 1️⃣ Agency recruiters are often under pressure. KPIs and targets can lead to those relentless follow-ups, sometimes even automated. I get it—an actual no doesn’t mean “no” in your world. 2️⃣ But... about the "no thanks" follow-up. This is where the disconnect really showed: when someone clearly declines, following up with another sales pitch just erodes trust. 3️⃣ Relationship-building takes a backseat. Some agency recruiters focus solely on numbers, not partnerships. But let me give credit where it’s due: there are incredible agency recruiters (often independents or smaller firms) who do care and nurture relationships. And hopefully a lesson learnt for agency recruiters: TA teams can fill roles independently. Not every job posting is a call for agency support—it’s a standard process we handle ourselves. So, here’s my question to both sides—agency recruiters and internal TA professionals: 💬 How can we communicate our preferences more clearly to avoid friction? Let’s face it—most TA decisions boil down to budget. If you’re open to a pro bono approach, we’re all ears (and might even throw in a virtual coffee ☕️)! What are your realistic solutions for smoother collaboration between TA and agencies? And no, I still don't need agency support, thank you😉

Hiring teams out there: lack of clarity (LOC) = loss of time (LOT) Say it with me “LOC = LOT” Recruiters, it’s your job to ask the right questions of the hiring managers to gain said clarity. Hiring managers, it’s on you to have to have information that enables said clarity. Are there positions that still need more scoping before a place of clarity is reached? Absolutely. Should there be open dialogue between recruiters and hiring managers as part of the scoping process? 100% BUT if you start trying to engage with candidates BEFORE that place of clarity is reached, time WILL BE LOST. So recruiters and hiring managers, here’s to gaining clarity this week!
