I've definitely seen these reasons ring true in Student Information System (SIS) changes like Workday Student. Addressing these issues are the real examples of change management work to be done. But it also shows where there needs to be upskilling like training staff and faculty in the new skills they need (like Business Analyst skills for Workday Student). Too often in technology implementations there is not enough focus on the user experience and training in ways that actually work. If you address those things in creative ways (not what everyone else is doing as obviously it's not working), it makes change much easier. Happy to share more ideas on how to do this!

Ask a Resource Update!!! Here is the question that got the most likes by Sunday night, from Adam Ventura: "I have a question (Might be a loaded question)...I just sat in a meeting about promoting a BCBA to a supervisory position, and I’m wondering how you determine when a BCBA is ready for that role. Are there specific criteria or key indicators to look for when making this decision? Also, do you have any tips or guidelines beyond the BACB rules that might help ensure the person is well-prepared for a supervisory position?" This is a great question! I think there is a HUGE leap between passing the BCBA exam and moving into a role where you are supervising others, either supervising candidates or overseeing fellow BCBAs in a clinic director type role. I would suggest #upskilling in the following areas (1) multidisciplinary collaboration, (2) supervision, (3) bidirectional feedback, and (4) change management. 👩‍🎓 Kudos to the University of Illinois for supporting #neurodivergent students! [For more #neurodiversity-friendly colleges, see the Top College Consultants database at https://lnkd.in/eqGBAa9 ] Makenna Norman writes: The Illinois Neurodiversity Initiative (INI) is a developing four-year program launched in 2022 to provide students at the University with academic, social and mental support. One of the key priorities of INI is helping students reach academic success, with classes such as HDFS 199: Academic Strategies being required for members to help them learn how to manage their time, meet deadlines, work with teams and develop other skills.  Grace Pfeiffer, sophomore in ACES and member of INI since spring 2023, said one of the reasons she joined the program is because she had difficulty transitioning from the regimented schedule of high school to a more flexible structure in college. INI was also designed to offer social support to members, mainly by giving them opportunities to form connections with other neurodivergent students through INI’s weekly group meetings and peer mentor program.  Liam Crider, sophomore in LAS and member of INI since fall 2022, said the social aspects of the program also give members an environment to develop and practice skills that are helpful when forming relationships with people who aren’t neurodivergent.  Freddy Romero, sophomore in Engineering and member of INI since fall 2022, said he joined INI because he felt it was one of the few University spaces to meet #neurodiverse people and receive support as a neurodiverse student. Because students’ mental well-being is also a focus of INI, the program offers students access to mental health coaching, including weekly check-ins and monthly assessments. However, INI students such as Pfeiffer said that other aspects of the program such as the social connections formed through INI improve their mental wellness. As we honor Juneteenth, I take the time to recognize the powerful symbolism behind the colors of the Juneteenth and African American flags. Both flags, often associated with Juneteenth, carry deep historical and cultural significance, representing the resilience, strength, and enduring spirit of the African American community. 🎨 African American Flag: Black: Signifies the rich, diverse heritage and the collective identity of Black people.
